Lathering is the plan, for sure! I extracted it and put it in a two-tone resin handle that I made a few weeks ago. I ordered the Trafalgar in a 24mm for this handle. I have a spare T2 as well, for whatever. It will be cured for lathering tomorrow evening. As for its size, I gathered a few other 24mm synth knots for comparison in a pic. You can see it is very similar in loft to a Tuxedo and an APShaveCo flattop, at least as I have set them anyway. As well, there is a Zenith boar knot in the photo which was purported to be a 26mm, but fits in a 1” hole, so is more likely 24-25mm. I will take pics again when it blooms a bit after lathering: PS, Clint- There is a nice, solitary black hair in there. I wonder if these are made by Omega...
This video is a Schick tutorial. These old Schick are great tools, and reward technique mastery. It's 6 minutes long. Big Shout out to @BBS for your generous contribution to our community. https://photos.app.goo.gl/cwafhE7fU8pDQzLV7 Have a super Saturday! Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
I certainly don’t purport to be a minimalist. Love a healthy range of choice in the Den. Your ‘100 days of Arko’ is so far beyond my willpower that ‘100 days with a Remington MicroScreen’ is just as likely... I am, however, trying to stick to a ‘one in one out’ guideline that has been semi-successful so far. I exempted brushes, so what did I do? Made a bunch of brushes...
Well, I have 11 yrs of headshaving and using a DE safety razor is easier than using a straight or shavette. It's because I have used a cart and DE razors for many years. I am sure that there are SE razors that use the same angle as the DE safeties so I wouldn't mind using those on my head. However, the Schick injector razor is different and that's why I wouldn't use it to headshave until I am comfortable with it. Realistically, that's true with any razor. My favorite headshave razors are my Rockwell T, 6C and the Jones Shake Sharp razors.
Saturday Shave: Finishing up with one of my top razors, a big 8/8 Mike Martinez that is 3/4 hollow and has an edge like velvet but sharp as a laser. Fine soaps perform great for me but the just have zero sent. The planets were definitely in alignment today, the shave was epic.
Excellent video, Chris! Today was the very first time that I used a Schick razor courtesy of Dale's generosity to the recently ended TSD raffle. I got a BBS shave with more than a few weepers, but I attribute it to learning a different angle than what I am used to with a DE safety. I am primarily a straight/shavette shaver and I agree that my Schick razor feels more like a straight than any of my other DE shavers. Glad that the original person (you) who started this 30DC thread 5 yrs ago is hosting this month. Looking forward to your input on everyone's shave. Good night!
Just a quick note from Cartel HQ in the Lou. Today was long and stressful one on this end but all is well. However, no sharp object will be in my grasp until tomorrow at some point. And, as a reminder, March is in the hands of our founder, the one, the only, the magnificent, @Bama Samurai . (Yes, I DO get paid $2 extra for each adjective) I'm looking forward to seeing what he has up his sleeve. Have a great night and a fantastic Saturday!
Have a great night Neal, and thanks for hosting the past 2 months that I've been a part of the 30DC--I've learned more in two months than I have the past 2 years
Amended update with good link. 6 min of Schick for newer converts. @BBS https://photos.app.goo.gl/dNj9zrgZCSrHzC1S9 Have a super Saturday! Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
