  1. Back to work Monday shave.... that means a safety razor. Today's tool of choice is a Joris DE loaded with GSB on its second shave. The planets aligned and the result was epic.

  5. Awesome shave, mon! No scratches for El Scratcho ;)

Seemed like I spent half my shave twisting and turning my arms trying to figure out how I was going to make the next run at my face. Can't wait till I gain the same familiarity with the process that you've got, sir. :happy102:
  6. fine shave and pic Patrick..good show..

  7. Fantastic set up, photo, shave, and report Bill. It is encouraging to know that with enough practice the shavette becomes a relief pitcher instead of the other way around. And for a razor like the Flare Tip, that's saying quite a lot :D
  8. Wouldn't dream of it, sir! At least not in this stage of the game. Will I eventually make that mistake? Undoubtedly. And then I'll remember your list of rules (all which end with "...put the razor down") and thoroughly kick my own backside for ignoring sage words from folk who know better.

Sadly, impulsivity, hindsight, and regret are how I often roll :happy102:
  9. Of course it would--I always vote for the losing side ;)

  10. Good work starting the focus off with a great shavette shave. Way to go Patrick.

    Wonderful shave and report Bill.
  11. Wow! I didn't know they made safety razors that could match your straights for style--color me impressed. An awesome, epic shave, Keith.

I'm actually going back and reading your list of open blade rules, btw ;)

    addendum:
Merkur 180, First "Real" safety razor, purchased January 14, 2014 (with stand)
Parker Shave Brush, first shave brush purchased in USA and first badger.
    Russian Blades.
Now, this gear will most likely confirm that almost every purchase made after that date
    was completely superfluous.
Please, no one share this post with Dr. Mrs. Primo. :rolleyes005:
The Marlborough has a slight scent of ashtray...
Performance, thank goodness was above average.
Today’s Russian Blade was a Sharp Star.
Honestly, it wasn’t as smooth as the Gillette Silver Blue.
Sharp enough, I guess but if after one shave I would have
rank them, Sharp Star would not be at the top of my list.
Nevertheless, three passes got me a great shave.
Finished with a splash of Ogallala Bay Rum for a
    fine finish.
  13. Nice shave Bill! I know we all like to try different blades, but I tend to stick what works for me. I like Voskhods, Polsilvers and my Rockwell Blades, but I have approximately 85 Rocky blades to use. I can't stockpile 100's or 1,000's of blades like some members because I am at an age that I might not use them all because I like straight shaving. Anyway, have a nice evening.
  14.
  15. Beautiful shaved, James. Happy anniversary.
  16. Wonderful shave, setup, pic and post, Joseph!
  17. Nice gear Keith! Great results!

    Thanks Charlie!

The grips will all come with practice Tim. Took me awhile at first . I'm ambidextrous so that makes it easier for me.

    Thanks Gary!

    Thanks Clint!

    Great combination Joseph!
  18. Cool shave, Joseph!
    Thank you!
  19. fantastic shave and pic Joseph..
  20. Nice DE razor Keith!
