It's a busy week for me but still enough time for straight razor shaves. The last two shaves were PRC western grind kamis.
Today's shave - Feather Artist Club DX Limited Edition - Simpson Chubby 2 synthetic - Muhle Sea Buckhorn shaving soap - Tabac Aftershave
Posting late, this morning was KISS, LPL Rose de Pushkar lathered with a funky M&F 3/1 Finest, and D. R. Harris Pink finished up.
CV Heljstrand MK No. 06 this morning with a gorgeous edge, maybe the most comfortable edge I’ve used so far. Paired up with this Declaration Grooming soap I’m trying desperately to finish and lathered with an Omega 48. The more this boar brush breaks in, the more I like it. I really didn’t understand the accolades until I got about 30 shaves on it, but now it seems to get better and better with every use. The razor was superb. It’s very light, which took some adjusting to, but it’s super smooth and easy to maneuver. It’s also well balanced. I’m ambivalent about thumb notches (aside from the look, which I love), some work well, some are awkward. This one is very well done and makes stropping a joy. I’ll be the weirdo at my desk rubbing my cheeks and chin all day if you need me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A very good shave, with a "Plated Razor", that was cheap, and took a very nice edge, that @gssixgun put on it, a while back, after looking it over, and taking much of the corroded plating off. I had a very smooth, 2 pass shave, that left me BDBS. A couple of weepers, that were the fault of a couple of bumps I "Had". The brush was a custom made, from @jtspartan , that he donated in the raffle, and I won. Excellent brush. Razor- The Palmer "41". Chicago. A hotel razor, probably sold to travelers, for advertising, and a quick buck, when they needed one on the spot. Brush- @jtspartan Special, Omega Boar knot Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy scented Aftershave- Proraso "Red". Sandalwood scented.
KISS 2, Henckles 472 ground for the Japanese market (shorty), soap was MdC fougere packed into an old Harris tube and lathered with the same funky brush, AS was AdP revitalizing face cream. Poifect as Bugs Bunny said.
Antelope 16 shoulder-less with a French point this morning. Only had time for a quick 2 pass shave, but the results were great. This soap and splash are a “homage” to Herod by Marley (ie a clone) that I’m addicted to. Just bought a small sample of the cologne and I’m really trying to keep myself from buying a full bottle (given it costs as much as a nice Jnat!) In any event, great shave this morning. @atbat82 Those last two shapes... the Antelope and the Heljestrand MK6 are such elegant designs... love those!
First shave with one of my “mini” Lunds. In pics (like eBay) they look sweet: Well, they are sweet in their own way. Meaning they turned out to not be full sized razors. About a quarter inch shorter than regular blades: At any rate, disappointment at the surprise aside, it provided a wonderful shave. Thanks! I’m a sucker for those designs. I honestly think James Bond would use an MK 06 if he was man enough to use a straight razor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wilbert Cutlery “Damascus Steel” Should be a 100+ year old razor... trademark of Sears, Roebuck & Co 1908-1921. Enjoy your shave. Tom
It was a C-MON kind of day. Haven’t found a vintage brush yet, but I did pick up this Heritage Collection remake with an interesting boar knot. I got the strop on BST from @Suhrim21 and grabbed the razor from @gssixgun. 2nd shave with the Escher edge and it was every bit as good as the last time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yesterday, shave #81 with the Filly 14 Sub Cero, cream was SMN lathered with a Simpsons 59 and a little SMN Lavanda AS finished up. Today, Tanifuji Maxfli 5000 stainless, cream was Harris Winsor lathered with the hippie brush and a little L’OP Cedrat finished up a BDBS shave. This razor id]s the stainless version of the Maxfli/Spalding, Tanifuji 40, etc.
Sweet Tanifuji MaxFli Stainless, @Steve56 ! I will have to keep my eyes peeled for one to go with my MaxFli Gold and the No. 1. One cannot have too many Tanifuji razors I say.
