    Shavette shave #5
3 passes tonight/ this morning ( stupid time change again) but could have done with 2 as the 3rd wasn't a game changer. Must have hit my peak because I'm getting as close under jawline as I do with any other razor I own. Opened myself up on 1st pass but no blood . Rest of the shave was uneventful and smooth. I love this combo of Maximo Gomez and Boosters . Pleasant smell during and after the shave . I remember ranting about not caring what the soap smelled like cause I covered it anyway but the Maximo Gomez takes me away to my Happy place. Thank you @jtspartan for introducing me to this wonderful soap and splash! You Sir , have good tastes !
Here's a throwback from my Canadian youth. The plaid mackinaw jacket I wore for many adventures that doesnt fit anymore . It must have shrunk since 1986. I kept it all these years since I keep my Canadian mancard in the pocket.

You can say that again Tim! Andrew @Linuxguile has been very generous to myself included. In fact , when I joined the 30DC my mailbox got flooded with soaps , blades ,razors, brushes from so many generous members in here who took this newbie in and opened my eyes to a whole new dimension of not only shaving but a brotherhood like no other . And still to this day I receive stuff from guys to try when I inquire about a soap or scent or blade or straight razor even. Theres no place like this forum!

Thanks Tim! I tried a new route other than buffing and did an extra pass. It was in vain as I believe 2 passes are cutting the mustard and anything more is going to lead to irritation. Damn I miss wearing that jacket!

Number 7 for the win, Tim! Helga is starting to pace back and forth. I gave her some pork rinds, and she seemed to settle down. I think we're good for awhile.

Two other things: (1) the Cartel knows where you live and (2) this place is full of kind and generous folks, except for a couple of meanies.

Nice job, I distinctly remember how much improvement was at the end of week 1, then week 2 where handling was much more comfortable.

I don't recall ever seeing anyone using a fancy knots 'back in the day'. When I traveled for work, I continued the use of a tie even when most places went 'business casual'.

I had a great deal of trouble re-tying those things...... finally ditched-em all together.

It's difficult for us Whincelapanians to keep up with modern styles that keep coming from Kentuckysylvania.

    That's great Joe!
You use open blades, I'd say that's a 15 on a Fatboy or Slim!
I open them all the way up.
But they only go to 9.

    I normally only go halfway.
But the Double Windsor is the nicest looking, when properly done.

    The straights are screaming Saturday.

The John Jay was an $18 antique shop rescue. My initial shave with this razor was a little needy. The Lovely Mrs Headroom was working today so I planned an edge touch up.

If someone had told me that one day I'd be using my thumbpad to evaluate the business end of a straight razor, I'd have laughed, yet here I am. Working only on a black ark with gun oil, I found after a full workout that a few trailing stokes to keen up this edge nice, followed by a some pasted balsa, then roo stropping. The thumbpad was good, and the shave test said I nailed it.

I find straights to be less aggressive throughout the progressive beard reduction, yet able to yield an equal finish that might be somewhat smoother. Very happy today.

Since dining out was planned for the Mrs. today, I chose the Et Tu combo from PAA. I absolutely love this scent which is claimed to be trued to the original Brut. The soap puffs a beautiful lather, and while the marketing says it is superior to a tallow soap, it is not as slick and carries a $$$ premium. It is not a re-buy for me. The Star Jelly is remarkable stuff that I super like. And, the scent of the splash is so good that I'm not really concerned if it's performance in skin care is lacking.

Fantastic shave and preview, coming from the future and all Bill!
I like where your blade can cut it after proper attention.
I also think the tallow soaps are superior.
They don't dry my skin out in comparison to plant based soaps.
I have bay rum and enjoy the star jelly.
    Nice!
