Nice shave, Evan! I don't own a Feather shavette so I can't speak from experience. However, the rule of thumb is that the straight razor/ shavette should only be approximately 1 to 1.5 spine width from the shaved area.

Razor - Kai Captain Artist Club
    Blade - [IMG]
Soap - Oleo Soapworks El Caballero
Brush - 30DC Meet UP w/ SynBad Bulb
    Post - Alum

Busy election Tuesday in Missouri and all's well. Another shave with the Kai Captain and Feather Pro and this one nearly ended in a bloody mess. My shave den is the half bath downstairs in the townhouse we are in. So, a fairly narrow space but definitely adequate. However, as I was switching to the left side and lining up to start the WTG pass on that side, I leaned a bit to the left as I turned my head and my elbow hit the door frame. That jammed the Kai into my left cheek. I sincerely believed I had probably cut myself pretty badly as the entire length of the blade pressed in and down. However, I still hadn't set the angle so, by the grace of the shaving gods, only the flat of the blade holder and blade actually got pushed into my cheek. There was one small scrape where the blade just missed digging in. Other than that, all was well. So, I adjusted my stance a bit to the right, assured my wife that I was, indeed, fine (she had heard the loud bump followed by a few loud "words") and went on with the shave. No more mishaps and the finish was a very nice near-BBS after three full passes. The El Caballero and Meet Up brush provided great lather which may have also helped that razor slide and skip instead of digging in.

Happy to be blood free! Have a great night and a better Wednesday!!
