Aaaand another fine shave with Central Texas Soaps(middle of a 3-shave set). More damage to the area of yesterday's cut, but it was just a weeper this time. I lifted my glasses to get the sideburn area, which was growing some. I'm no Elvis though, but sometimes stuff grows there, as we know. 2 passes, some touching up around the cheeks. Might have done a little better at the middle of my neck. Finished off again with the aftershave of the same soap name(CTS Weekend Rodeo). Ride'em Buckin' Bronco!!
Wonderful shave, Danny! I have seen youtubers use Col Conks soap and it produces a fine lather, but they have mentioned that the scents are very light. Rocky razors are always reliable.
Oh man Joe..I forgot to grade it!! We'll just say "Great" this time, and I'll be sure to get back on track tomorrow and beyond. But thanks,. yes, I was quite pleased.
Thanks Joe. The Bay Rum to me is not light but is is a different kind of bay rum scent and I cannot put my hand on it. The stuff does lather great. I bought a 4 pack sampler off of Amazon so I will be rotating through them in the near future. Take care.
Thanks Danny.....I do like it. As I've been writing, one reviewer called it a "Stoylin Ripoff". Still not 100% sure why, except naybe he was noting that the pricings are about the same. Quality too, for that matter.
March Focus Hemingway Accoutrements~~Parker~~Merkur 23C/Gillette Platinum Giving the Gillette Platinum another try, albeit with a new blade. My neck still shows signs of yesterday's fiasco. Today, my game plan is to keep the pressure to a minimum and limit the neck to one, WTG pass. Gotta have a protective base, no matter what blade you are scraping across your face. In the cream category, the HA fits the bill nicely. Observe: Nice, soft peaks; microfoam, and stability are the hallmarks of this product. Have to get through it, as granules are starting to form. This reinforces my intention to rid my den of all "soft" soaps. To the shave... Ultra-light pressure; removed the lather, not the stubble; maintained a shallow angle. All these techniques, which should be engrained in EVERY wet-shaver, I applied. I was quite successful and was even able to complete my neck without creating more irritation. DFS++ Double splash of the tonic...gotta get through this product as well, left me smelling... great.
March 12th NEW LC w GSB (3) Zenith boar/BRM Fine American Blend combo Thayers 10th day of the New focus, 3rd with the SC. Whipped up a nice lather with the Fine soap and I like this scent. After a 2nd use, I still get ‘upscale barbershop’, but do acknowledge I am lousy at describing scents. For the newer folks, this Rive Gauche dupe was Fine’s first scent, I believe. Their soaps have moved to the front of my den for sure. 3 passes later I am quite smooth and without issue. All the NEWs have rocked so far. Have a great day all!
