    I've done the two pass with touch up shaves in the past. For me it's just as easy to do a third pass and call it good.

    Congrats on the new aftershave. No comment is just about as good as a compliment in my book.

    Hmmm. Perhaps I'll take it up as a summer project. I did notice Slash is selling sight-unseen razors (although I am enjoying using the Focus R21 kamisori-style). Point made, sir--it's on my radar ;)

    Holy crud! Sweet setups for both razors and knives, but certainly more gear than I would like to have lying around. I may try lapping film for razors. For knives, I'll probably try throwing the knives away and simply pulling food apart with my bare hands or employing a series of karate chops--it'll be about as effective as using my "sharpened" knives, and I'll be saving some space :happy102:

    Very nice shave and recap, Tim! I shave according to the situation. If I am a little rushed for time, I use a synthetic brush in conjunction with blooming the soap. Sometimes, I don't bloom. Anyway, I am at the point of 2 pass shaves and minor touchups. My second pass is always against the grain. Some can do XTG and be done, but that doesn't work for me. Others will do WTG, XTG and then ATG for a 3 pass shave. Your 1st pass should always be WTG because most of your beard reduction is in this pass. Going XTG on first pass negates the efficiency and will cause unnecessary irritation.

    I recieved a reply back from Home Like Shaving about when they expect more stock in on the aluminum Baikal razor. Looks like later on this year. Only thing available now is the black and gold version which I ain't feeling. Yuk!

    I'm glad it all worked out, Evan. Makes sense now.

    My blade bank is nothing fancy. It's an extra large pill bottle. I use a regular size pill bottle in my travel kit. The local pharmacy provides them at no charge. (The large bottles are good for storing smaller brushes in your travel kit too.) We have another local pharmacy in the area that accepts used sharps for free, and they're happy to take my used blades. The only other acceptable alternative I have here is to place blades in a hard, sealed & labeled container and put it in the trash.

    Edit: I now realize you were talking about the fresh blade holder. Ooops.

    I've got a container of Sharp Dressed Man that will get used sometime this year. Should be a real winner.
