Well it's that day of the week again-here are your Friday Files:

-I've become reacquainted with SummerBreak Soaps, and may go for an aftershave of the same brand as that which I bought hand soap from..History 101. I was taken aback some by the odd fragrance of all those manly ingredients thrown in together. I figure by shaking the aftershave prior to use I will get a better, more mixed in, fragrance....after all, you can't shake hand soap.

-I hope to be able to use my Duke Cannon "tooth-paste tube" shaving cream year-round(as we can do with most creams/foams...well that is except for Gillette Foamy Menthol). I have to "negotiate" this tube better, so as not too much, nor too little comes out. Better to err on the side of too little, as you can always do a "repeat performance" to get a little more extra out. It's nice that CVS has this brand.

The JR #290 was loaded with a,nice thick lather that was slick and cushiony. I just love this Bay Rum scent and as always, Stirling soaps delivers. I chose the Dovo shavette for this important shave because it introduced me to straight razor shaving. I really wanted to get one of my greatest shavette shaves because of this milestone. On a 38 hr stubble, I got a fantastic BBS shave on two and a half passes without any blood or irritation. Under my old system, I would grade this a 99.5. Splashed on a liberal amount of the Bay Rum aftershave and finished with the Nivea. My skin looks great ! Ok, Tim, Charlie, and Patrick, I am veering off the road as you continue on your 100 shavette shave March. I will rejoin you on the shavette path for a few shaves during the last week of March. My next shave will be with my very first traditional straight razor, the Dovo Special and that will be my #150 traditional straight shave. That will occur on Sunday. Have a great day guys!

Good morning

Used the Apollo Light for the first time this morning. Chose the two line baseplate which is marketed as aggressive. More blade feel than I expected. I don't know what the gap or exposure is but it will shave comfortably from shallow to steep angles. I'm most comfortable with riding the cap. I did my usual three passes for near BBS. Silent alum except for an isolated spot under my chin where I had a technique induced weeper. I would call it an excellent first outing. I won't be experimenting with angles tomorrow. I'll be riding the cap and sticking with the aggressive plate for two more shaves before switching to the "smooth" baseplate.
