March 16, 2020 RR Lupo Feather Paladin Asylum Colonia Shave Soap & Aftershave Monday already. I really need a 3 day weekend. The Paladin is a joy to use. The handle is so ergonomic and the knot has the right amount of backbone and scrub to make things interesting. Three passes and touch ups ended with the baby in hand. A splash of the Colonia aftershave and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
March 16 SOTD: Razor: Razorock GC JAWS Blade: Gillette Nacet Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Lather: PAA ESP Aftershave: PAA ESP Additional Care: Unrefined Shea Butter I took Friday off, and skipped shaving Friday and Saturday. I did get a shave in yesterday, even though church was on line, as I wanted to keep Sunday as close to normal as possible for the kids. I never got around to posting that shave, which was the first with this razor. Today was shave two, who h was very smooth. This razor shaves well, and I like the polished finish better than that of the Lupo, but I think I prefer the way the Lupo shaves a bit better than this one. March Focus Hemingway Accoutrements~~Simpson KH4~~RazoRock GC OC .84~~Voskhod Second outing with this Voskhod blade and the GC. The blade gap is .84 and I don't find it the least bit aggressive. There is a modicum of blade "feel", yet finding the "slicing" angle doesn't prove especially difficult. Now, don't get the idea that this razor won't cut you, it will. (No, no cut today) I am also acclimating to the extreme heft (108g) of this razor. Pick up a Gillette Old Type or a Ranger Tech and you'll immediately feel the huge difference. I am going to get through this jar of Hemingway if it's the last think I do. Big finger full, together with the Simpson Keyhole produced some fine lather. Side note: Vault Boy approved. Shave consisted of three passes and only got bit once on the ATG pass on...guess where? Yup, my neck. I think there's an ingrown hair that I keep nicking. However, at the end of the shave, I was left with a very close, comfortable, (almost) BBS shave. Once again, I slathered on some of the HA after shave tonic. Granules aside, this stuff is probably the best smelling product I own. And the performance is pretty fine as well. Now, if they would only figure out how to manufacture it correctly.
I watched Ferris Bueller this weekend. I had not seen it in a while and I noticed some Clubman Talc on the shelf in the bathroom at the Chez Quis restaurant. Can anyone identify the aftershave in the other bottles? The bottles resemble Clubman but I do not recognize the labels.
