Shavette Shave #15--
”What a Rash and Bloody Deed Is This…!”
Top ‘o the mornin’ to you! St. Paddy’s Day today, so I celebrated the only way I know how: green slacks, green shirt, and the green Duck Tape tie my daughter made me for Father’s Day 6-8 years ago. I thought it was because I am so awesome, but she corrected me pretty quickly on that one… “It’s so every time you wear it you’ll remember how awesome I am.” Jokes on her--I only wear it once a year....

The Shave...
The shave today was surprisingly bloody considering how easy it should have been--2 WTG passes and some chinly touch ups. Should be a walk in the park, but for some reason the blade just kept catching me, and I still don’t know exactly what the problem was. Shallow angle? Check. Light pressure? Check. Catching anyhow? Check. Blood drawn? Check. Check. Check.
Next, I looked at my lather: dense micro-bubbles? Check. Nice glossy sheen? Check. Enough hydration? Check. If anything, it was perhaps over hydrated, but even then it didn’t show the tell-tale signs that I’m used to: thin, nearly transparent lather that dries extremely quickly. All I know is that it felt like I was using glue because that blade would just bite and bite during that 1st pass.
After the shave I pulled the blade out to give it a look. These old eyes couldn’t see anything, but then again, they don’t pick things up too well up close. Gave the edge a strop-like feel with the thumb, and couldn’t detect anything amiss. Bizarre--should have had this shave on Friday the 13th.
Forgive the hyperbole above--I only needed to bring about the mystical powers of the styptic for one weeper, and overall, the results were pretty good: a CCS and, other than the multiple nicks and catches, no irritation. I can definitely get comfortable, but presentable, results with two WTG passes. I’ll probably do quite a few of these during the weekdays (unless I get bored and want to chase a bit).
Can’t wait to fight over the corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes with the family tonight (doesn’t matter how much we cook, there’s never enough). Hope your day goes well--stay safe and happy!
