  1. Yeah, if you've "only" got a couple hundred left... you might be a Feather user.

  2. Great shave, Clint--super classy B & W photo!

"...It is a gift from my wife, so I will happy use it to the last squeeze. However, given the way I feel about the cream, I am making sure to over use it each time."

Ah, the things we do to please the women who make our lives so livable...

I think that major cut will be coming once I start to feel comfortable with the process. One of the great things about the shavette is how focused I've been on the whole shaving process. I will say this though: I've yet to shave with a shavette without getting some sort of weeper, so there is a future goal--that and getting my chin shaved without having to buff away at it like I'm sanding a woodworking project :happy102:

  6. Great shave report, Paul!

You know, now I'm kind of curious to pair Texas on Fire with Clubman Citrus Musk. You're right though: ToF AS would swallow a lime soap whole--you'd never know you used it :happy102:

The return of the prodigal troll, @mrchick inspired me to choose this razor.

First true Straight Razor shave in a while (I don't count the Feather AC)
and the first in a VERY long time, shaving my entire face.
Once again, I am working my way through this tub of Hemingway.
Now that it has been de-granulated, it is mos def© more pleasurable to use.
However, I am still going to finish it, because...well, my thoughts on granules are pretty well-known.
The boar created some luscious-looking lather.
    Observe:

I have learned that the edge of a straight razor will tell you a lot.
    1) Naturally how sharp it is and...
    2) How slick your lather is.
This lather is not as slick as I would like.
I added mucho H2O, but there was some tugging.
Dare I say, this edge might need some refreshing?
I haven't worked a razor on my stones for a really long time.
    Maybe it's time. :signs002:
I was able to achieve a DFS with one non-bleeding, but "
    ouchy" set down.
I also avoided the nick under my nose...must let that heal.
The chin...always a nemesis with a straight was passable.
    The baby escaped.

  10. Tim, good morning and thanks. I'm no Chemist,, but I believe if you paired TOF with CM, look at the bottom of this post to see what happens:

    SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
  11. Prefers, eh? What would happen if I walked into your house and up to him, waved, and said, "Magnus muh man...how are you?"
  12. Very, very nice shave, Joseph!
  13. You will find a way to conquer the chin. I have always suggested to do an XTG with a SW to NE placement of the blade if you have trouble with the chin or any area.
  14. TGIF as they say!
Rain all night just enough to keep it muddy.
    A young boys dream!
    Anyway...
The shave was once again from the box and two more Gillette Techs.
These two don't have any date codes so how old??, don't know.
Now trying to get through them, I proceeded like yesterday.

Using the gold one for first face pass, silver for second pass. Silver for first pass on the gord, gold for the second.

I was quiet satisfied with my lather, using a synthetic knot till....
Reading Clint loads up his brush more than I ever thought too, well I gotta try it.
Using more soap and mixing well, I was rewarded with a very thick, creamy lather.
It did not seem to be of any consequence until the 2cd pass on the mug.
    Well....nice!
Doing the same lathering for the gord made that much smoother and closer.
Well looks like I've gotten a lesson in lathering.
    Thank you Clint!

A really easy shave this morning.
Sandalwood is a nice scent to me.
The two Techs are good to go, and so am I.

    All
    Be safe!
    ENJOY!

  15. Wonderful shave, pic and post Terry! Yes, I agree that Sandalwood is a nice scent. I have used it in my mini focus for the last 3 shaves and will continue to use it for my final 2 shaves.
  16. Great reports guys ! Good to see you again Rick! Haven't shaved in a couple days but its looking like todays the day. Catch up later .

  17. Question for you on the Stoylin Unscented A.S. I have it too, and I do find there is a slight scent of SOMETHING, that appears to clash with aftershaves. I mean, it isn't MUCH of a scent, but something's there. Do you find this as well?
  18. Roll Tide.

Just super busy. We're making hard decisions and securing property. We're in for a difficult spring season.

    2020 Shavette Focus Shave # 16

Same as yesterday, I performed one mostly WTG pass and a few touch-ups. I avoided a spot under my jaw in order to let it heal. Nary a peep from the alum. It was a nice, smooth shave and certainly good enough for the weekly run to the grocery store, two drug stores, and the Post Office. I got home in time to enjoy a nice walk with my Bride in the sunshine before the rain returns later today.

I've been really pleased with the Stirling soap. I enjoy the scent of Blood on Steel, and I couldn't ask for better overall performance. I consider Stirling a "top 5" soap in my den.

My Bride and I have a date tonight. You're welcome to join us. Bring your own ice cream. :)
