3/15 Shave #16 was smooth and satisfying. Edge control and comfort was 4/5. Vast improvements since my first dozen shaves have been made. The blade feels natural in hand and strokes require little premeditation. I’m now able to simply identify a target and approach with confidence, not thinking deliberately how to affect strokes. This is very gratifying. I’m still learning skin stretches and experimenting. Time at the mirror is now about half what it was for shaves #1-12. Weepers are still a reality. I’m experiencing at least 3 and no more than 6 weepers but given the final results I’m happy with that for now.

3/16 Shave #17 was a solid DFS. I ran 4 passes because I was feeling comfortable and having fun. Edge maintenance has been minimal compared to the excessive tinkering I was doing last week. This has brought me a consistent starting point. I am pausing after pass 1 to strop, which is probably not necessary but it’s making me more confident and it’s fun for now so while it’s likely not necessary it’s a step I’m opting to take. I nicked myself in the corner of the mouth but had only 3 weepers. A little excessive irritation may have been attributable to the 4th pass but I went to the stones and had improved results for shave #18.

3/17 Shave #18 was a CCS. I stopped at 2.5 passes because it was late night and I was pretty tired so I stopped a little early. The edge was improved as compared to #17 and I did not stop to strop after 1st pass. Weepers are random; that is I’m not noticing the same weepers in the same spots. I think that shows I’m not having specific problem areas, though I’m mindful of the chin and upper lip. These areas slow me down and that’s due to extra curves and experimental skin stretching.

3/20 Shave #19 was my final shave for my 30DR! Another DFS. I nicked an earlobe but it barely bled. This was my only misstep. 3.5 passes today left me 90% BBS. Very pleased with these results. Still had a couple weepers but those were quelled with the cold water post-shave rinse. Each pass was relatively quick. The razor now feels natural, as an extension of my hand(s). I’m really excited to try some other razors. I’ve been very disciplined through this and that has been a big factor in the overall success of this commitment. I’ll know better if I’m having some issues with a different razor, what those issues might be- because I have this consecutive experience with the same razor.
Final Thought
My 30DR experience was excellent. This successful experience has been totally driven by the support of the community. I’m really happy to have done this. My skills have improved. I have much yet to learn but I expect that will come much easier because of my experience through the 30DR. Thanks to all who shared their experience, advice, and kindness!
