2020 Shavette Focus Shave # 17
I returned to my normal
two plus routine and enjoyed a DFS and very comfortable overall shave this morning. My cheeks would make any baby sick with envy. My chin could be closer, but I elected not to excessively buff it and risk an otherwise fine shave. I choose to work on my technique rather than rely on too much buffing. In my opinion, one of the keys to a good shave is knowing when to stop shaving. Using a Feather blade in the shavette is no big deal. A shavette deserves respect regardless of blade choice.
Mike's Natural Soap is another "top 5" soap. Performance is outstanding, and Mike uses first-rate ingredients. I also like his choice of simple packaging. The LE brush loaded easily and worked up a creamy, slick lather in nothing flat. I've had this puck for awhile, so the lavender scent is faint. Mike's has a characteristic ingredient scent that I don't mind. This one definitely qualifies for a re-buy.
Neither the alum nor Helga sang after the shave was complete. I've almost finished my barbershop sized bottle of Floid Vigoroso. I now more liberally apply my aftershaves, and this really showcases the menthol effect of the Vigoroso. I've enjoyed having it in my den, but it won't be a re-buy. I tend to prefer
darker or
cool-weather scents which are typical of bay rum or tobacco flower scented aftershaves. I also don't see myself buying another large container of aftershave, either. The Floid bottle can be slippery, and it would not be a good day in my house if I broke it on the tile floor.
All things considered, this was a fantastic shave. I've really enjoyed using the Parker SRX. It's fun to use, and mastery is within reach of anyone willing to invest the effort.
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.
