March 22, 2020 Karve with F Plate Gillette 7 O’clock Yellow Zenith B25 Boar A&E L’Orange Verte Shave Soap & Aftershave The A&E L'Orange Verte is inspired by Terre d'Hermes like Fine L'Orange Noir. While both scents have the bitter citrus notes over an earthy base, the A&E L'Orange Verte has a deeper earthy base. Both Fine and A&E did a wonderful job in picking up the notes of Terre d'Hermes. The big Zenith boar loaded and lathered the L'Orange Verte with ease. I had intended to use the Karve with the D plate again today. At the last minute, I decided to change out to the F plate. This change increased the blade gap from 0.98mm to 1.23mm. Since I was feeling adventurous this morning, I decided to try 2 pass shave. I mixed things up by going with the ATG pass first followed by a XTG pass. After touch ups, I thought I had the baby in hand. As I was rinsing my face I discovered I had left a spot just below my jawline. A splash of cold water and buffing caught the little guy. A splash of the matching aftershave left me ready for the day. I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.
Thank you, Tim! I don't see myself reaching for the .69 very often but I'll still use it. Just like with any other adjustable I find wide open to be the easiest to use but I'll dial them down on occasion to keep my technique in check. Thanks, Clint!
March 22nd Razorock .68 GC Jaws w Nacet (3) Zenith boar/BRM Fine American Blend combo Thayers 3rd day with the GC. I’ll go back to my NEW focus tomorrow. I had well over 48 hrs worth to mow down earlier this morning. Whipped up a very nice lather and had 3 easy passes which left me just short of completely smooth. A little bit left on the jawline, but still very good results. I like this razor and I really like the handle. Maybe another baseplate in my future. 3rd use of this soap, as I said I would keep track (for science!). A nice scent indeed, I can see why @PLAla is a fan. Have a great day all!
March 22 Parker SRX Feather (2) B-400 by Tom handle w/Envy White Supreme Two-band knot Mike's Hungarian Lavender Alum, Thayers WH, USB/Almond Oil, Floid Vigoroso, & Aramis EdT 2020 Shavette Focus Shave # 18 My normal two plus routine with a little more work on my chin yielded another DFS bordering on a near BBS shave. My chin is closer than yesterday, and the alum was relatively quiet. I suffered one small nick on my chin and some barely detectable red marks on my lower neck, indicating I could still use less pressure. I brought out my B-400 by Tom handle with the Envy White Supreme Two-band knot. It was just a joy to use, and it made quick work of Mike's HL. Overall, it was a fine shave. Have a great day, friends!
Nice pic and a great description of the soap scent, Clint. I am a fan of Terre d’Hermes dupes, especially the Fine. Is the A&E available in a splash as well?
I'm with Jason (and anyone else that piped in) on the three and out while you are developing your technique. Especially with Feather blades. They drop off to only almost as sharp as other brands on that first use. Later when you are getting less user error resume pushing the limits trying to stretch the number of uses.
Wonderful shave and photo Jason. I hope your day is going well. Great shave and photo Charlie. Maya and Swati have left Lexington for home already.
