Very cool, Terry. I passed a 20 wpm code text for my Amateur Extra license in the 90's. Whiskey 4 Uniform Lima. I know a guy here in town that runs HF mobile CW at 40-50 wpm. Unbelievable. I can still send and receive CW, but my speed is way down now. I never tried using a bug. I donated most of my gear to the local Salvation Army emergency response group a few years ago. I lived in a condo at the time and was severely limited on installing an antenna. I donated some HF gear, a UHF/VHF mobile, a 12v power supply, and an electronic keyer. I kept my straight key and the Heathkit oscillator I built along with a handheld Icom 6m/2m/70cm tri-bander. Reminds me that I should get the Icom out sometime and get back on the air. I was also a Volunteer Examiner for awhile. It's a fun hobby, for sure, that allowed me to meet some nice folks. My Bride has her Tech license also.

There isn't any shame in refreshing the lather because it dries. You can also hydrate your lather more so that it doesn't dry due to the lenghth of your pass. Really, there isn't anyone pointing a finger and laughing at your lathering technique while your shaving. I have had to refresh my lather during a pass because I didn't have the right soap to water ratio. It really shouldn't hold you back in using shave soaps and croaps when shavette shaving.

When I use a shavette, I will use my brush to reapply lather a couple of times during a pass. Otherwise, it dries out on me too. Canned foam works as well. It's all good.

Before I picked the shavette up again for March I used to just lather 1 side then shave and lather the other as to not have the dry soap problem. My shaving times are getting shorter this month and I also change my approach angle a tad bit which has resulted in less setdown errors. Its all slowly coming together. Much easier since I dont think about grips anymore also.

You, Charlie and Tim have progressed very quickly and that's awesome! I only speak from my experience and everyone goes through their shave journey differently. The great thing is that we share them here so that we learn different things on what to do and what not to do. Keep moving forward on your shavette journey because you will have better shaves with open blades and safety razors.

Im still getting a nick here and there but less frequently. If I would stop attempting against the grain passes I would probably eliminate blood loss whatsoever.

I've found the best way to stop bleeding is to simply get rid of all the blood in the first place--admittedly, this has its own set of draw-backs...

Really close shave tonight with a nick on jawline . Was attempting an against the grain pass and soap was a bit dry which caused me to dig in . Minimal blood loss which completely stopped after the Stetson made contact. Love how it pairs with the Gentleman soap. I smell manly and feel smooth!
