  1. That's a fine shave, Terry! I am happy with the tube version when I headshave.

  2. Awesome report, Terry! I saw the Cremo sticks popping up in some conversations on the web recently, and was curious as to how they perform. I too, like the soaps I currently am using, but it is nice to know that I can hop into a Walmart (provided it's still open) and grab a stick if need be... and know that it works well.

Thanks for the intel, sir! :D

Shavette Shave #21--”The Thin Red Line…”

    Gear
    • Razor: The Max Headroom Focus R21 shavette
    • Blade: Personna Blue (2)--In a DE platform, the Personna Blue usually gives me its best shave at around #2-3. With a shavette, you hit the equivalent of #2 after your 1st shave. Still, I wanted to see how a 2nd shave went, so I took yesterday’s Personna out for another spin--I’m pretty pleased with its performance. 2 shaves definitely works well, but I don’t think I’ll try for more than this.
    • Brush: Semogue Boar
    • Soap: Soap Commander “Drive”
    • Menthol: Stirling Frost Drops--I went double today just to keep things chilly
    • AS: Pinaud Citrus Musk
    • Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented

    The Shave...
2 passes today, WTG and ATG with some heavier touch ups along the chin. 1st pass went well, but got a little experimental with holds and set the razor down along my jaw. Gadfrey, do I hate set-downs! It’s not the cut or the blood I mind, but rather how insanely easy it is to avoid them. When you see the thin red line because of a set down, there’s only one thing to blame--the idjit with the surprised look staring at you in the mirror. Anyhow, this one slowed pretty quickly, but needed the styptic and might need a little watchfulness tomorrow.

2nd pass went without a hitch, and the results were a DFS and almost no irritation.

Have a marvelous Monday everybody! Keep on being awesome :D

    21 down, 79 to go!

  5. Thanks Joe!
    But the stick works too.

  6. Thanks Tim!
It's not as good as Stirling, but much better than others.
    In a pinch, it'll do.

  7. Thank you, Tim. The brush looks much nicer in person than in the photos.

The soap is a bit of a mystery. I'll have fun gathering intel on it before I try it out. One of the scent choices on the website is Tar! I sure hope that isn't the one I got. :happy097:
  8. Thanks Jim!
  9. Good point Joe, thanks...
  10. I'll need Joe's Chem Lab keys first. :). But seriously, maybe I'll take a little longer to moisten the brush, but certainly less than 5. I'm sensing that the "20 second to load group" use synths???
  11. I had a friend that was going into her office today. Among other things, she was going to retrieve a large bag of M&M's. :happy097:
  12. Super shave Tim! You are still in the experimental stage and now you know what not to do as far as that setdown.

  13. Get her to tell you the "other things".
  14. Glad you have Doc Ezlovan's Frost Drops.
  15. I'll let all of you know. I bet the Soap Exchange crew was/were presuming the readers had a badger or boar only.

Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - PS Tube 2.0, John Frum CK6 SS & AS/C, ASB Star Jelly
Drew Dick 7/8 Damascus Steel - Green Kirinite
    Zenith Synthetic

Early morning shave, just getting to post. 2 passes, WTG/XTG with neck touch ups (ATG), DFS+ result. Still learning synthetic knots....Zenith's version is very stiff, very little load time for me with PAA's CK6 formula and face lathering. Requires rewetting the knot to keep well hydrated in between lathers. The Drew Dick straight needs some touch up honing time....was able to get a nice DFS+, definitely not the smooth shaver I'm used to, even after a round on a pasted linen strop, followed with a bridle strop.

Crazy day today. Wife back to work after a week off for spring break (our school district is still closed til April 3rd though) . However, Dallas County issued the 'Shelter in Place' order yesterday for everyone but essential business and infrastructure ....and her job is in a Dallas zip code. She went to work long enough for them to send her home with a desktop computer (laptops were, um, caught in the south Dallas tornado about a month ago in a warehouse district). She's never done the work from home thing ever....so between the hiccups w/setup and all.....it's been a day. But, we're truly blessed with how it's working out so far, as she's not in an industry (or in a position at her company) that's going through downsizing and layoffs (knock on wood!).

Thanks for all the kind words yesterday! With the kids at home still, plus now a work from home spouse....trying to get into a new daily routine.

    Good afternoon guys!
    Shavette shave #151
    Parker SRB
    Rockwell 1/2 DE blade (4)
    Jayaruh SHD Brush #386
Stirling Coconut and Lime SS and AS
    Nivea ASB
    Dollar Tree Plastic Bowl
I could've waited to shave tomorrow but after practicing lathering this bowl I decided to shave this evening.
My favorite brush did an awesome job creating a yogurty lather. Now, I didn't have a voluminous lather, but it still was a nice one. I just have to load a little more soap to do so, but I did have enough for my shave. 2.5 passes and got my IBSS++/VBBS shave without cuts or irritation. Although it was my first bowl lather shave, I was pleased with it. Finished the shave in the usual manner. No stinging was felt from the aftershave. Have a great evening guys! 20200323_163550.jpg 20200323_164246.jpg 20200323_163550.jpg 20200323_164246.jpg
  18. Great shave, post and pic, Blair! Glad your wife is still working.
  19. Man! I've seen tar as an ingredient, but never as an actual scent. Nothing says "sophisticated" quite like tar does ;)
