  3. Ow. OW. Hey, quit that. My arm already hurts from yard work this morning and a few hours this afternoon with some bathroom renovation. Kinda looking for a disco version....

    Gorgeous setup Jason!Great looking everything.

Cool Joseph, love the double duck straight. Great read and images too. ‘Titanic’ through a soap.....fun. I just did that on my brief TSD hiatus. Finished off a tub of Truefitt & Hill sandalwood.

    Very nice Paul! Fun read.

    Ooooooh. Ahhhhhh. Purdy. Congrats!

Feel better! I had pneumonia vax last week. 2 rounds of side effects. Ugh.

    Nice Patrick!

Great report Tim. Set down oops...no fun there. Nice shave though!

Great one Joe! Love the lather shot.
  5. Awesome photo, report, and shave, Joe! I'll give you a week to experiment before answering, but know the question is coming: how does bowl lathering compare to face lathering?

And do I detect a bit of color matching? You're joining the ranks of the hardcore photographers! :D
  6. Thanks, Joe! I decided to face lather today, and that fan knot treats me pretty well when I face lather :)

  9. Thanks, Clint! I forget the name of the ancient Greek philosopher who said it, but "Know Thyself" has some pretty practical applications still ;)

  10. Thanks, Blair! Shouldn't say it, because that's the kiss of death, but I haven't had a major set-down incident yet--though heavens knows I've tried :happy102:

Life has been busy! Swinging by say hello and provide a little update. I got busy at the end of February and then sort of burned out on SOTD photos and decided to take a little time away from the forum. I see that things continued unabated. I expected nothing less!

I've been shaving with Stirling Dirty South Shavers 2019 meet-up soap every day except Fridays. The Fat continues in its place of honor for Friday. My diligence has paid off. I present a rare sight - an empty tub of Stirling!

It was a great soap and now I'm moving on to the next target, probably Stirling Blood on Steel meet-up soap.

The Alabama governor closed schools today through the end of the year. We were already on a 3-week closure that ended April 6. So we'll go to online instruction on April 6. Going to be a huge challenge with tons of uncharted territory. So, I'll probably go back to being scarce again for a while.

I trust the shaves and banter are both going well. I'll see you all soon.
  12. Congrats on finishing the soap Perry. It was nice to hear from you. We are all in uncharted territory but educators like you are really under the gun. Just remember to take care of yourself and your family. Take care and be safe. Check in when you can.

  13. Great to hear from you again, Perry! Congrats on finding the bottom of a tub of Stirling... it's so shiny :D

Been doing the teach-at-home thing. Won't lie; it's hard to focus with all the kids running around (add to this contacting each student weekly and having to log all teacher-student communications to verify that it's happening... oye!). Best of luck to you, sir! :)
  14. Thanks Blair! I bought 4 of those plastic bowls for 27 cents a piece at the Dollar Store. It has protuberances on the bottom so it is easier to bowl lather. It is very lightweight and flexible so it is very comfortable.
  15. Nice to see you on the 30DC thread. For those of you on here who don’t follow the Shave of the Day thread, Tommy regularly posts pics of very nice combos (and awesome figured wood fine woodworking). Go ahead and post those pics here too, Tommy!
  16. Thanks Tim. Although I have 13 traditional straights, 8 brushes and I believe 20 soaps and 2 creams, I only can truly color coordinate with a few of my gear. I buy items that interest me and usually never thinking of color schemes. The C-Mon brush was an exception because it goes with my 2 C-Mon razors. It just so happens it goes with my Henckel's. When I picked the Satsuma, I wasn't thinking of the color, but the smell that puts me in a good mood.
  17. Thanks for dropping in, Perry. Thanks for all you’re doing with your students. I’m sure the positive relationships you have built over the year(s) with your students will make your connection with them, regardless of how remote, a true positive in their lives right now.
  18. What you are doing is awesome, Tim. The connection with your students is a highlight of their day, I’m sure. Just seeing Mr. Abababaluka :))) in his cool ties is definitely giving them a sense of normalcy in these ridiculous times.
  19. Thank you, Blair!

  20. Socrates said it. I thought you would be quoting Shakespeare, "To thine own self be true."
