    Hi Friends,

it has been quiet about me for the last time.

My father is on the intensive care unit since 20th February. He had an heart surgery with 3 heart bypasses and a new heart valve.

Due to corona we could't see him for a while now. The hospital says he is weak. Thank God not critical when they don't lie to us.

Mom, me and the family are done...we hope the best and pray multiple times everyday.

But to get a little bit normality for some moments, here my shave of today.

    Razor: Karve Brass with C-Plate
    Blade: Gillette Nacet (2)
Soap: Noble Otter The Noir et Vanille
Brush: custom made Butterscotch with a 26mm Oumo SHD Fan knot
Aftershave: Noble Otter The Noir et Vanille

Great shave. Noble Otter, Declaration Grooming and Wholly Kaw...could it get any better? I don't think so. Fantastic.

Stay safe, stay healthy and enjoy your shaves. If you would like to, you could add my Dad into your daily prayers.

Thank you very much. Take care.

    Cold Water Rinse
Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap
    Jayaruh #395 two-band badger
    Superior Lather Catcher

    Aqua Velva Ice Blue

The Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #395 two-band badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Superior Lather Catcher with a Vintage GEM Cutlery SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    A perplexing day…
I woke up at seven o’clock, loafed in bed, took a sybaritic shower having yesterday decalcified the shower head and shaved magna cum laude.
I went down to the kitchen and cooked a ham omelet.
It couldn’t have taken me hours, even though I indulged to listen to Baker.
I got to the desk at 10:30!
I thought I’d read the time wrong or had loafed more than what I thought.

Then a phone call cleared up the riddle: goddamn daylight saving time!
Does that mean that until yesterday my days were marked by daylight wasting hours?
That I have to reprint the self-certification to go food shopping?
For certain, now, I know my breakfast didn’t last an hour and a half, which is comforting.

I’m already uncomfortable with longer days that I really didn’t need any more confusion!
What’s more, today would be Grandma Angelina’s birthday, the one who graduated from the Bologna Conservatory: she'd 130.

And here another mystery: the caption says 1938; but my grandmother, here, could not be 49 years old! In this case, who would be the child in her arms?
From the cheeks it would seem to be my mother, but then it would have been taken in 1918 and she would have been 29: more credible…

Were they inaccurate to write a date in those days?
My granddad’s fussiness was proverbial and his father was Austrian, an ethnicity that is not easy going!
And grandma was the daughter of a Lipsiese (what are the people of Leipzig named: Lipsians, children of the lime trees?): she was certainly not sloppy

    What an unnerving day…

But I could shave relaxed because, at that moment, there were not all these dilemmas and it was a really satisfying shave.

    Sunday morning:

    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/ Derby day 2
    Bundubeard Kudu’s Kick SS
    Prep ASB
Folsom & Company Black Powder AS Splash

Although we’re in a 90% lockdown here in Montreal I could at least enjoy my shaves as well as the company of my two treasures - my wife and daughter, as well as my most precious treasure which is my Mom. Jaco’s Kudu soap delivered a tremendous amount of rich, beautiful lather which had great slickness, the scent is so delightful, and the menthol sensation felt heavenly. The Prep did a perfect job of caring for my skin afterwards, and the Black Powder aftershave not only smells lovely, it has a very generous amount of menthol to it. Three passes resulted in a wonderful BBS shave.

Have a good Sunday and be safe!
