Henckels 5/8 CWR Aqua Velva Ice Blue The Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #395 two-band badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the J.A. Henckels 5/8 gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
King Pelican 14 user, soap was PdP lathered with a Keyhole 3, and a dab of SMN lavender AS finished up a fine Saturday morning shave.
Heljestrand frameback Speick shaving stick Each time I try the razor is getting better. But it is not finished. The cheeks are absolute smoot, but part of the chin is not close enough.
Took a hiatus from the smaller Heljestrands and pulled out the big gun... a Heljestrand 14. 7/8” of Swedish fun. Enjoy your shave. Tom
5/8 Gotta First straight shave in a week .Been busy with work keeping the flow of packages and mail for the State of New Hampshire. The Gotta delivered a great shave .Very nice Solingen blade.
By coincidence I also pulled out my frameback today. Wasn’t sure about the first two passes but the third left little for touch up. It is spring in Seoul and the Cherry Blossoms have started to bloom.... oh yeah and today was full hollow Brian Brown.
No photo A small wedge hellberg; a little iritation in my neck. I used epsilon scottish spirit for the first time. Nice smell.
Shave #88 on the Filly 14 Sub Cero, still shavin’ on. Cream was AdP lathered with Simpsons 57, and AdP balm finished up. Great shave and fragrance for a spring morning. And no, the blade has not been touched up or anything, the little kiita is a prop, literally to hold the razor up, and give me something different image wise. I was getting bored with the same compositions. One thing that I have noticed, when you have a lot of mileage on the edge, the soap noticeably matters, and price doesn’t seem to be a factor. I haven’t done any soap testing, but I intend to. So far, the best soaps have been 3P (one of the cheapest), AoS Ocean Kelp, AdP (one of the most expensive), I Coloniali Mango, ABC hard soap, and Santa Maria Novella (pricey, but a generous 220ml jar).
