  1. Except for Gary (@brit) who sold all his adjustables. :)

  2. Thanks, Joe, you too in particular! You’re right in the NY heart bed!
  3. Does that mean you wouldn't buy Stoylin Xecutive Man? Fine Platinum is a clone for that.
  4. Thanks, James! It was a great shave; hope the Revolutionary War simile didn’t offend.
  5. I wouldn't worry about offending me! I'm about the hardest person to offend... Water off a duck's back!
  6. Paul:
You need to reevaluate those disposables! Consider getting yourself a Feather Popular! Great razor, and close to the price of a pack of disposables.

  8. Great video, Chris! Always nice to see how good technique differs from what I see in the mirror (the differences are getting less and less noticeable, though ;))

Love the shirt you've got hanging in the background, btw :D
  9. Thanks Clint!
I really need to use it more often.

    Thanks Joseph!
I haven't put it on the scales, but a it out weights a Fat Boy.

    Thanks Jim!

    Thanks Joe!
I like the looks of it.

I wasn't going to use the same gear, but I felt compelled to give it another go.
so. it is with my hat in my hands I am here to make amends.

I did make two strategic changes to yesterday's shave, so an exact replica, this is not.
    1) Swapped out the Fatboy for the Game Changer.
    2) Face-lathered with the Rubberset rather than bowl-lathering with a badger.
I did use the same Wizamet blade from yesterday.
The lather results. Gone was the airy fluff, replaced by a super-thick, extra dense lather,
which did need copious amounts of water to achieve the desired consistency.

The über-slickness of the soap provided the Super Iridium the perfect base for which
to effortlessly remove the 24 hour growth.
The Game Changer is, for me, a much better tool with which to navigate the face.
The angle is super-easy to find and maintain. Gone was the harshness of yesterday's blade-edge.
Now, was it the second shave---à la Feather? or was it the Game Changer :signs002:
OR...was it that I used the last of my Proraso pre-shave cream :signs002:

Thanks to @TommyCarioca I looked into the history of the RL aftershave.
I discovered that my bottle is from the first formulation, by Cosmair.
    IMG_4250.jpeg
According to basenotes.net, the original formula contained oak moss, which was removed
    when it was reformulated.
I also learned that this is a classic fougère, which my nose was unable to discern.
Interestingly, after "knowing" this, I immediately could tell that it is a fougère.
My "nose" needs quite a bit of education.
The results today were outstanding; from start to finish, everything "clicked"
It made me not only smooth and refreshed and smelling great, but it also
made me feel MUCH better about having acquired these products.
The moral of the story is: "Don't make judgments too soon".
  17. Great shave report and pic, Terry! I also shaved with a relatively heavy razor this morning. Slow and steady is the key. Having a Feather Super loaded definitely contributed to my caution, but the result was great. Stay safe and healthy my friend!
  18. Arko is COOl!
  19. Beautiful Barbershop shave, Terry! I researched a ton of different adjustables a couple years ago, but the Viking Crusader somehow slipped under my radar--sounds like a pretty nice shaver :D
