  2. Great shave report, Terry! Glad your shave went well! While not an injector fan myself, I appreciate how much others enjoy them. Enjoy your day!

  3. i agree..cut the safety bar off a razor and have a great shave,it's a safety net.the bar touches the face on deep inward curves and prevents nicks sometimes.also depends on blade exposure being negative, neutral or positive.most gillettes are neutral.i would think the blade gap being larger would help with people who have thick heavy wiry whiskers or longer growth to prevent clogging it up,but thats it.the limit of mild razors, less gap..
  4. great news..thank you for the update sir..
  5. That is fantastic news. I will continue to keep Bob in my prayers.

  6. Great shave and photo Terry.
  7. Wonderful report and shave Jeff. I have never tried a Fatboy. I do have a birth year and quarter Slim in fantastic shape. I despise using the Slim.
  8. Fantastic shave and report Bill. Sure looks like that razor has some massive blade exposure. With poor technique that would bite hard.
  9. Great news indeed!

  10. I have a Slim and Black Beauty as well, both of which belonged to my father, so I’ll never get rid of them, but really don’t like the shave of any of them.
  11. Nice, Terry! Orange Chill is a favorite of mine.
    Fat Friday!
Sorry the shave wasn't better but still, Fat Friday!

Long time members of the 30DC know I have absolutely zero patience. So there was no way, I would wait until Saturday to give the new Blackbird a try. The Omega Evo synthetic is a fantastic brush and a joy to use face lathering. The Evo whipped up the S du Moulin into a rich slick lather. I spent time reading reviews of the Blackbird last night. Many talked about the blade forward feel and how aggressive the razor felt. So I approached the shave this morning not knowing what to expect. The angular top cap reminds me of the top cap on the Mongoose razor so I used the flats as a guide and went to work. I was immediately surprised that the razor felt much milder than I expected. I never felt that I would get bitten and draw blood. This is quite different than the Nodachi. Three passes and touch ups left me thinking I had caught the baby. Cold water rinse and witch hazel splash revealed, I had missed a spot just to the right of my chin. A splash of cold water and I buffed the stubble away. This razor is smooth and forgiving. I understand that this is the first use and I will stick with razor before making a final assessment. Let's just say the Blackbird is off to a great start. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.
  13. After my hack and slash yesterday and having had less time today I picked up my trusty de89. This is such an understated razor. Had a superb BBS shave with it today.

I'll be back to the feather clubman when my lip has recovered!

  15. cool set up and pic Jeff..i did get good shaves with my adjustables, they just did't hit the "love it" button.i like the feel and design of the 30-40s oc models more..the adjustables were trying to replicate 9 models in one..just my opinion of course.no expert here..they are a historic icon razor, just not better than the ones they were meant to replace.others will disagree, especially those who don't get a good shave from a mild gillette..to be clear, mild gillettes are great for me when used daily.if i let my beard grow for a few days,i choose a rocket hd or a red tip.in that sense i can see why folks like the adjustables on 9..
  16. fine shave and pic Terry, have a great day..
  17. Being a committed Stirling Fanboy, having Executive Man is not even optional. I use it once in a while.
At least I'll probably never have to repurchase.
  18. Thank you Jim. I can't believe I waited this long to give the Blackbird a try.
  19. awesome shave and pic Clint, cool razor..good morning..i fully understand the "zero patience' thing..;)
  20. Thank you Gary.
