Gold Monkey, testing the stone that it’s resting on, a softer stone, yet fine. Shave was BBS, soap was ABC hard soap lathered with a Keyhole 3 , and Myrsol AB finished up.

Wonderful shave, from a Spanish made razor. Smooth and laser sharp 2 pass shave, that left BBS results. A wonderful razor, that lives up to its reputation.

Razor- Filarmonica "14". A Paraguay marketed version. Made in Spain.
Brush- RazoRock 400. High Mountain Badger knot
Soap- ARKO. From Turkey. Excellent for face lathering. Super slick, rich and creamy.
    Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman

This was my 3rd shave with this near-wedge. This was an awesome, comfortable, BBS shave. I finally got very very close to dialed-in with my honing of this razor. The steel is really hard- like my Heljestrand, but thicker behind the edge and with a hint of a smile. This is a challenge for me and I’ve experimented widely with the honing. My current medicine for this is actually a full JNAT progression, involving 3 stones and 7 Nagura. Yes it’s overkill; overkill is my honing affliction. I think my biggest beneficial change in the honing here is stepping back in honing strokes overall. I realize that’s ambiguous given such little detail, yet I’m offering the observation nonetheless. It’s an important consideration for anyone like me who gets lost in the honing and might enjoy the process a little too much.

I haven’t been posting much lately as my new puppy has kept me busy and exhausted. Last night my parents offered to keep him for night so I could catch up on sleep. My parents are the best!

Decided to go with something of an old school shave this morning. I broke out a La Toja shave stick that I’ve had for a while and paired it with Clubman, a classic aftershave. Since I was using a Spanish shave stick, I figured a Spanish razor was in order and the Fili 14 is one of my favorites.

The shave was fantastic, if incredibly drying. The old school products have none of the magic skin food in the modern artisan stuff, but the performance was great - slick and cushiony. Though I could feel my face drying as I shaved. I wouldn’t use these all winter long, but a nice change of pace on a lovely early spring day.

First use of the Monday razor in this set of “mini Lunds.” They are 2.75 inches instead of the normal 3 inch blades. My technique with them is improving and today’s shave was very, very satisfying :happy036:
