2020 Shavette Focus Shave # 23
This was my first shave in three days, and the Parker SRX got it all in two passes and a few touch ups. Cheeks were BBS, and everything else was DFS or better. Irritation? Nope! Comfortable? Yes! No problems or weepers on my trouble spots (mouth and chin areas), either. In fact, I'm closing in on a bloodless BBS everywhere if I'm willing to carefully chase a little. Everything in this kit just works well, and as you all know, I've stuck with it for while.
JR # 394 has been defunked and is on deck for later this week. I've performed a few test lathers in my palm, and this knot feels heavenly. As you can see, I'm closing in on the 55-gal drum of Floid Vigoroso. I will go ahead and plow through the half-gone Eufros soap as well. It has been an excellent performer, but I can't abide this particular scent. I'm sure Manuel knocks it out of the park with some of his other scents, but I don't think Eufros will be a repurchase after this container is used up. I have others in my "top 5" that work just as well for me.
I switched back from Feather to Voskhod blades. Man, those Voskhods are smooth. I'll get more of them eventually...just because. And the SRX...this thing just performs. I had a spare, but I PIF'd it. I think I'll get another one eventually...just because.
I will continue my shavette focus until we leave for Minnesota. I plan to do a Gillette adjustable focus while traveling (except I'll shave exclusively with it wide open) and then return to the shavette later this summer. The main thing on the trip will be to care for lovely Mrs. Danger. Even though the risk is low, I don't want to chance an accident with a shavette. That would be difficult to 'splain.
We had a great Sunday. It started off with an early morning shave followed by on-line church and our first successful attempt at meeting with our weekend group using Zoom. This appears to be our 'new normal,' at least for awhile. It felt good to catch up with friends that we had missed over the last three weeks. We spent time outside enjoying the sunshine, and we caught up with our Canadian friends from B.C. today. We met them on a trip to Italy two years ago. They loved it so much that they visited Sicily last year and had planned to return to Italy again this year. We tentatively agreed to join them on a trip to Italy next year, health and world events permitting. BTW, I reached out to our Italy tour guide last week. Thankfully, she and her family are safe and well. That news was a real blessing.
I hope you all had a great weekend. Be safe and stay healthy.
