How are the Vokshod blades? I got 2 free packs included in an order from Ebay and I haven't used them yet, am a little apprehensive to be honest.

Jake, I'm not the biggest fan of Voskhods. They feel tuggy to me. There are many that really like them though.

    Thanks Clint!
Hope you all are doing OK too. Fine here, so far.

    Tanks James!
    Funny you say that.
I got the head from A lot that of razors I bought. I didn't really know what I had but I cleaned it up
put on a handle, a new blade and shaved away.
Fuzzy, commented that the handle was not the way to molest such a razor.
He sent me the handle that is on it now.
I liked that shave so much I have a few other juniors, they work great!
    So! thanks to Fuzzy!
    He knows his SE's!!

    Thanks Evan!!
That Razor never lets me down!
I'm still breathing on my own, so that's good.
Hope everything is going good in your world with you and all your people!

    Yea! Thanks Blair.
    It's a favorite of mine.

    Thanks Joe!

    Thanks Jim!

    Thanks Tim!
The Lucky Tiger has a nice scent, so it was a no brainier to get the trio.
Was going to get the matching bar soap, but the price was insanely expensive IMO.

    Hey Blair, thanks!
I got it at a antiques store a while ago, had to remove the tag today so I could use it.

    Thanks Gary!

It's amazing what tastes good when you haven't had a meal in a few days, ya know.
I try to avoid that noways, just one look at me and you can tell I don't miss any meals anymore.

Thanks friends. I hope you all are well, and I appreciate the kind words.

Three days of growth is too much, but it makes for a fun and satisfying shave. The Voskhod blade really shines in the Parker SRX. There is always room for improvement, but this may have been my best-ever dance with a shavette. I took my time and enjoyed it. My chin is smooth, but it took too much work to get it there. That tells me where more focus is needed.

i liked them, they were a nice change when i used astra greens a lot.now i use mostly russian gillette blades and vintage ones..the mild gillette razors love sharp blades with great results..voskhods are a very smooth mid sharp blade to my beard..

    April 9th - Blade Trial
Razor - Muhle R41 with ikon Bulldog handle.
    Blade - Gillette Super Platinum
    Brush - Yaqi Tuxedo
    Soap - TOBS Peppermint
After Shave - Proraso Green Balm

I did say that I would revisit this blade after my first effort with it in my Fatip Grande. I'm afraid I have experienced a similarly rough shave with it in the R41. It just seems very rough and tuggy to me, I did also feel like I had to go over my jawline quite a few times to mow the stubble down. I know that several gents here like them, so I definitely wanted to give them a fair shot!

2.5 passes yielded a DFS with no incident, so it was not a bad shave by any stretch of the imagination!

On to the Gillette Silver Blue for my next shave! :)

Stay safe and enjoy your shaves gentlemen.

Another glorious shave with the new Colonial General V2 blade holder equipped with a Feather Super (4) on its last use. Rather than bore you with continuing paeans to the latter glories, I’ll instead focus today on some of the changes in software I made for this shave. Many of us look to our milled soaps - Martin de Candre, Mitchell’s Wool Fat, Creed’s Green Irish Tweed etc - as the platform for our shaves, but doing so neglects the shave creams. In Italy shave cream is the preferred latherer, according to Sharpologist. Some of my current favorites are Palmolive, Kapo, Gillette Pure, Proraso and Cella. I’ve always enjoyed a good variety of different shave creams, but one of my favorites is Bigelow. It always generates a great thick protective lather. The beautiful Boar brush Jayaruh crafted with its great backbone did an excellent job whipping it up beautifully in the scuttle. This lather seems every bit as good as that generated using my regular MWF. One and a half passes with this razor again put the baby to bed. I really enjoyed the shave; I feel clean, cool, and refreshed. What I most enjoy about using this razor, though, is that wonderful, soft, velveteen feel to the shave surfaces, and that wonderful smell from the Chatillon Lux Post-Shave Toner.

RAZOR: 316L SS Colonial General V2
    BLADE: Feather Super AC
    PREP: Cold water rinse
SOAP: C.O. Bigelow salted with 6 drops of M-Bomb
    BRUSH: Jayaruh Custom Boar #343
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and finished with Chatillon Lux Pure Lavender Post-Shave Toner

I have to say that ANY blade in an R41 can "feel" rough. When I use mine, I am laser-focused on riding the cap.

Too bad the blade didn't work out for you. Great picture though!
