  2. Awesome! :happy102:

I'd do it too, but piggy banks get a lot of attention from my younger kids, and I need to use something that flies under their radar...

An old tooth powder tub does the trick for me (though it's not as easy as dropping the blade in a slot)...

But one day, sir, I will use the piggy bank! :D
  3. I discovered by reviewing video footage that I spend half of my shave on the chin. Half of my shave! If it it didn't drive me so crazy after a while, that's all I'd need to just grow out the goatee :happy102:
  4. Awesome line up and report, James! :D

It's amazing how everyone experiences the same gear differently. For instance, but my few DE shaves with Feather blades were underwhelming. Not horrible, mind you, but for the Feather price, I felt like I should have got a much more enjoyable shave. I will revisit the Feathers when I finish my 100 shave focus with the shavette because user error is not an uncommon occurrence when I'm the one doing the shaving ;)
  5. thank you Jason, good afternoon.i took the pic yesterday but today is just as nice.:)

  6. Oh yeah I can definitely see why you're not using a piggy bank! The strange little things that get sacrificed when you become a parent that no one mentions right?!?! But I wouldn't have it any other way :) I like your idea though, very inconspicuous.

  7. Another enviable shave, Jeff--1.5 passes for BBS is some amazing shaving, sir! That C.O. Bigelow, btw, sounds incredible :D

  9. Good job, Clint. It has been two months since my last haircut, so I'm considering a selfie. What's the worst that could happen?

    The Shave...

I’m having a bit of trouble face lathering with the boar brush. Actually, that’s not 100% true. I’m having trouble loading the soap on my face with the shave stick, then face lathering with the boar. My stick of Stirling Iced Pineapple is very soft, and the whiskers just eat the soap up, yet not a lot of lather. I’ll play around a bit with water concentration tomorrow. Start fairly dry, then work my way up with the ol’ H2O and see what happens.

Joe brought up some interesting points about getting a CCS with a single pass, so I thought I’d keep an eye out to see if I am (a) using too much pressure, or (b) doubling or tripling up on strokes, or (c) both--wouldn’t be the 1st time I’ve doubled down on bad shave habits.

Because I tend to lose myself in the shave, I actually filmed myself going through the routine today. I kept a close eye on my shaving peccadilloes throughout the shave, and thought I did a pretty good job keeping myself to a single (occasionally double) stroke for the lather. The video revealed otherwise. I was almost doing two passes worth of strokes in a single pass. Stirling has decent residual slickness with their soaps, but that’s pushing things a bit.

The results were not far from, but under CCS, which is also pretty revealing: since I was actively keeping an eye out for repeat strokes today, I am probably triple-stroking or even quadruple-stroking passes when that is not on my radar. That’s a lot of steel-on-skin contact. Could it be that my 3 pass shaves are really 6 or 9 or 12 pass shaves? Mind blown. Might explain my lifelong battle with razor burn, though.

Truly a revealing Thursday. Hope you are enjoying the heck out of yours! :D

  17. Very interesting, Tim. I've never filmed myself shaving. I tried to once, but thought the acting was horrible and the leading man had a face only fit for radio so I turned it off...:angry017:
