Isn't that the truth, Tim? I spend a majority of my time shaving around my mouth and chin areas. My cheeks and neck are quick and easy by comparison. In terms of difficulty, my jaw line falls somewhere in between.

I had a cheesy (Colby, not full-on Sharp Cheddar) 'stache for 15 years. I lost it when it started to change colors. :p I have never worn a beard. These days, having any sort of facial hair bugs me. I even keep my sideburns trimmed short, and I shave the back of my neck a couple of times a week. In the last few years, a lot of my hair has migrated from my head to my brows, ears, and nose, but that's a different story. :D

I got a couple of tucks from Keith a few years ago as part of one of our trades. They really are nice blades. If you like other St. Petes Gillettes, you'll really enjoy these.

Tim, I am glad you are videotaping yourself to see what you are doing incorrectly. Sometimes, you don't realize it when you are in the zen zone. I am glad that you put my constructive criticism into action and it opened your eyes. Now, that you are aware of it, you should be moving forward to get better shaves. One last thing, just do a 1 pass shave on the chin until you have what I call visual BBS. At that point, you can do against the grain or across the grain pass to get your chin smooth.

I had a very similar experience myself, but it is a great way to look critically at technique instead of just worrying about keeping all that blood on the inside ;)

Wow, Tim. Filming myself shaving isn't something I would have thought to do. Great idea!

Thank you, Joe! I don't know if I'll ever get a visual BBS in a single pass on my chin ;)

As far as St. Petes steel goes, I find the Nacet, Polsilver and Permasharp all fantastic. Have them all in bulk so let me know if you haven't tried any of them. GSBs are good when they are good, but I have had a few bum steers. Astra SPs are in my stockpile as well and I find them incredibly smooth. Sputniks are fine blades as well, but don't seem to be as common. The two discontinued blades from there that I really like are the previously mentioned Blues as well as the Wizamet Iridium Supers. I'll send you a few of those next time I send you other stuff...don't go buying 25 of 'em online tonight! I've actually never tried the Russian Greens or Yellows, but have 10 Greens coming as I needed to add a couple $'s to get my latest Razor order into free shipping range:).
I believe the current Blacks are made in India.

Thanks, Jim! There's something about seeing all ones shortcomings in HD that is unsettling--instructive, but unsettling. :happy102:

Well, that's the standard that I use for me. In your case, you may have to modify to a decent WTG pass that people will not say,"You missed a few spots on your chin" Short, visual uniformity of the chin stubble should be doable on the first pass.

It’s manufactured by Proraso, but contains additional ingredients. Both Proraso and Bigelow are great shave creams, but Bigelow is one of my favorites right along with Kapo which is amazingly affordable. Kapo is made in Bulgaria and is amazing stuff and surprisingly cheap.

It’s my favorite AC razor! The Vector delivers as good a shave, but doesn’t feel as good in hand. 6 drops of M-BOMB is just perfect. It’s colder than Cryogen soap, and lacks the awful fumes in Cryogen.

    Razor: Dovo Inox
    Brush: My #1
    PS: Proraso Green
    SS & AS: Stirling Piacenza

Yesterday's shave was so awesome I wanted to use the Dovo again. I looked at the razor with my 20x loupe. The edge is so shiny it's difficult to see.

Anyway, I really like Piacenza and it does start with a P. The bloomed soap loaded the brush and made a wonderful lather. 3 passes the the only blood being on my ear which I lightly touched by accident.

3 pass shave to BBS. Wonderfully pleasant!

Have a great Good Friday everyone! As always stay healthy and safe out there.
