Asylum Shave Works SS & AS - Old Virginia
Thayers Witch Hazel - Lavender

2.5 pass DFS+ result today. One slight weeper above the lip, no biggie, stopped on it's own before the second pass. Fourth outing with ASW Old Virginia shave soap (production by Wet Shaving Products). First three outings with Old Virginia SS I never seemed to get it quite 'perfect', but today's H2O to soap ratio along with a good bit of bowl whipping produced some joy. Jason's craftsmanship along with an Omega boar & I finally was rewarded with a super yogurty thick lather, slight cream color. Lather slinging fun.

The Toyo Hasimoto 777.....blade is German steel, German ground. However, this razor's finishing work is done in Japan (final edge, scales, etc.). Super thin ground full hollow, insanely smooth & sharp, this razor requires full attention. Tons of audible feedback as it gets the job done.

Small dose of Thayers WH at the end of the shave again today, awesome skin feel, lasts for hours. Finished with ASW's Old Virginia AS.

good morning gents.loaded the platinum blade into the french market brit tech today.this tech has larger lather slots in the baseplate,a thicker top cap and a heavier fat handle.the handle is a true one piece,with the handle being machined from a piece of thick walled brass tubing instead of the regular tech fat handle having a pressed in top collar/thin wall design like gillette's usual offerings.this razor does feel a little different than it's brit brother but still sports made in england on the plate.case is french blue instead of the darker blue brit version.
the wcs synthetic built a fabulous dead sea lather,north to south pass then south to north,with the plus pass for pick ups/buffing resulted in a smooth,issue free near bbs,leaving the lower neck area just smooth enough to fool the cotton ball.good enough for me without the risk of ingrowns or irritation,and enough growth will be present tomorrow to do it all again....
dead sea aftershave caps it off.awesome ..have a fine day everyone..

Wonderful shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Just the lightest tickle from the alum.

Yes, another new razor. Paradigm Diamondback 2020. Beautifully mirror polished. Nice heft with good balance. Not the grippiest handle but I had no trouble hanging on to the razor. Some blade feel, not a lot. Very smooth razor with an easy to find and maintain angle.

The Shave...
Parents and students are coming in today in order to turn in work for the last month, and to pick up new assignments--gotta be looking my best. I went with a 2 pass shave with touch ups.

First passes (WTG) are the easiest for me. Except for right under the nose. If I’m going to bleed anywhere in the 1st pass, that’s where it’ll be… but it was successfully navigated, and usually is.

2nd pass (mostly XTG today) was a little rockier. A small set down error on the chin, and remember that part of the upper lip right under the nose that gives me trouble during the 1st pass, but is a cakewalk (even the fool’s pass) on the 2nd and 3rd? I somehow managed a slight nick going from the outside inward--still unsure how that happened.

Styptic on the chin for a small-but-persistent weeper on the chin, and my other errors just went away on their own. Somewhere in between BBS and DFS today with a slight tinge of irritation on the right side of my neck just under my ear--don’t know how that one happened; it’s usually pretty quiet along there.

Well off to make this a little less of a vacation for a couple hundred kids--I'll check in later in the afternoon

Decided to switch things up today. Had a very nice, irritation-free, DFS.
It's been a while since I've used Mystic Waters, fantastic stuff for sure, I've heard good things about their Sandalwood Rose as well. This was the fourth shave with the Astra SS and I can feel it beginning to lose its sharpness, still plenty comfortable though, maybe I can remedy that with a higher setting on the razor?
I would pull the trigger on a 100 pack if I didn't have about 15 more blades to sample
Finished off with some Clubman Classic Vanilla and Zingari Man balm, take care everyone!
