Thanks brother. I am going with the straight daily for another week. Today's shave was fantastic and my technique is steadily improving. No time better then the present working from home so if I cut myself it just scares the family. Another no cut day today. I don't quite get the BBS I get with my DE's, but it still is a DFS. I don't want to push things and irritate the face like I did at first. My face doesn't burn with the alum anymore so I got that going for me - lol. I am surprised how much I now enjoy using the straight. I am not sure I will ever jump off the DE ship, but I want to keep developing my skills.

More stuff I have not used in a while.

Stirling for Him SS and AS - the limited release of the Stirling interpretation of Versace pour homme went right to the top of the Max Headroom List of Most Glorious Stanks for me.

Simpson Emperor 2 - while all my brushes manage to bring suds to my face, I wish they all felt like this one. In my book, the Simpson Super Badger is second to none.

The Focus R48 Dynamic 1/2 DE Single Edge Razor. While this tool requires the proper application of pressure and violates the good shaving techniques needed for most gear, it has the capability to deliver cottonball smooth irritation free low risk shaves. To get the most, use a Feather blade, figure out how to make sure it is loaded properly, push in the top plane so the pivot mechanism engages the cap and guard for skin contact on your strokes, thin out the lather and shave to your hearts desire.

This tool gave me a number of things in my shave journey. 1) It showed me the result to target for. 2) It showed me the growth patterns and and ATG strokes that I need to make to deliver bullseye on target.

For sure, this tool has it's opponents. Most who never used it properly, and some not at all.

While I have been drawn more to a preference to open edge shaves, this tool always delivers a delightful result.

Shave on, Shave free. Edison Carter for Network 23 out.

    Twisted Saturday
Almost bored, searching for zen in my den.
    I used
    Hot water wash
    Dirty Bird Scuttle
    Black Jack’s muhle silvertip fiber
    Cyril R Salter’s French Vetiver
    Black Jack’s r-89 de
    Persona lab (1)
    ATOMIZER with water
    Crusella&Co vetiver (iced)

today I used my black Jack’s set. It is rebranded muhle products, but work fine in functionality. The only difference is the oversized handle on the razor.
I whipped up the funk. Salter French vetiver sure is an acquired aroma. It’s got a funky earthy smell that is unique in my arsenal.
My lather was very nice. I worked it until I saw the sheen. Adding water by dipping the brush tip and swirling it in. So it occurred to me, can I get more moisture in easier and more evenly?

so I twisted my routine. I scrounged up a spray bottle. Washed to remove any traces of the aftershave they used to be in it. Filled with plain water. All this while lathered up. Sure enough, the water spritzed on quite well. And I think made my last pass very slick. I think it was still worth looking into.
I finished with vetiver on a different side of the flower. The Crusellas offering is a lot sweeter. Hence another twist (from funk to floral sweet). I should have used a slant to stay in theme. This twisted shave was very nice.
Hope y’all did a well, or better.

A cool refreshing Enoch peppermint shave on a cool April day. I got a little cavalier and gave myself 2 little nicks. Gotta respect the proline . Happy shaves all.
