Wade & Butcher wedge for this evening. One of those blades that had a real nice mirror finish at one point in its life. Still nice, but showing its age. I enjoy it. SV Manna Di Sicilia is hiding in the MWF tub. Made for a great shave. Enjoy your shave. Tom
6/8 Riga Razor, Simpson Polo 10 Fine shaving soap. The Montale will ensure no comes with 2 meters of me.
@Steve56 thanks for the advice Steve I appreciate it. It wasn't a total loss though I did get $5 refunded to me and I got to keep all the items plus the lesson I learned too.
7/8 Herder 49 (the black-scaled one), soap was ABC hard soap lathered with an APS Shaving 2BED and a dab of ABC almond balm finished up a BBS shave.
Henckels 95, Old Spice, homebuilt boar, dollar store castor oil AS (prominently featured so you know what to avoid)
A little different twist for this Wade & Butcher... not a FBU, but a FBO. So a For Barbers Only variant... very demanding . Another slight difference from all of my W&B razors in that there is an “S” after Butcher. I don’t see that too often. And finally, all of that history goes out the window when I modified it... just a tad. But I kept the scales . Enjoy your shave. Tom
Last unused day of the set - Wednesday. Probably the best shave with these smaller razors so far - very close and efficient. The difference is not so much the blade as the technique adjustment. The smaller blades seem to want slightly faster, lighter, and shorter strokes. At least, that is what is working for me. Got this Heljestrand honed for me. The first shaves went well, but still had trouble atg. But tonight I got lighter on the strokes, found new angles and I finally got a nice close shave with no irritation.
Oryx 931, US import from Solingen, 1920s or 30s, bone or ivory, ~4/8, featuring plenty of hone wear Putting some newborn SR children up for adoption today.
F. Herder 77 this evening. Stirling Sandpiper, one of my favorite scents, paired with the last few drops of Folsom & Co.’s Black Powder... going to miss that A/S Enjoy your shave. Tom
This Mastro Livi has beautiful mother of pearl scales but I really struggled to get them tight. Finally after 30 minutes of fighting got her tightened up, good thing because the edge on this razor is exceptional.
Yesterday’s shave was #97 on the Filly Sub Cero. This morning I got out the good stuff, 7/8 C. V. Heljestrand No 140, cream, balm, and fragrance was Acqua di Parma Colonia and a Simpsons 58 did the onors mixing up a fine lather.
SOTD - Razor - Kitinite scaled Kikuboshi FeoN Strop - JimboRoo Brush - 22mm Reknot Old Spice Handle Soap - Black Spice Duck Tallow (TY Max Schaefer ) A/S - Brut Splash Really awesome shave, I had just re-scaled my Kikuboshi and the was the trial run... After a touch up on my Nakayama, I did a final stropping on the Original Jimboroo Kangaroo strop. There might still be a few of the Old gang from SRP that remember this strop. The Black Spring soap came out from Cali with a Razor repair job. The Duck Tallow base was incredible I actually had to thin out the original lather on my face 4 times as I had made it TOO thick The scent was Wife approved and the Brut was a good combo. Shave On !!!
