This morning's shave ended up fine, but had its troubles along the way. I had the same lineup out as that of yesterday, with the exception of the different brush(Stoylin Pro-Handle). 10 seconds to moisten the brush, 25 to load the soap. During the first pass I got 2 weepers, same # on the second pass but these were less visible than the first set. Thus I lacked the pride and self-confidence I like to have while shaving. Ahhh, they could have been worse, I suppose. But once again a nice clean shave overall, no misses. Clubman Special Reserve was the finisher once again-I'm almost down to the end of it, but I ordered another one a while back. Pretty Excellent.

And here we are....that day of the week again. Time for your FRIDAY FILES:

-Today I hereby proclaim October for me as Old School October. We don't have a month beginning in V(Vintage)or C(Classic), thus October gets the nod. Wish me well :).
-What will happen to shave orders placed here if the Postal Service ends, as it may unless the U.S. budget saves it?
-I haven't used my Sir Hare Co. soap for quite a while, but it's up on the Lazy Susan for probably its last 2 or 3 shaves for the season. It's their Alpha. Masculinity in a shavesoap puck!!

    April 24th
    Razor: RR Hawk V3 OC
    Blade: Feather Super Professional (1)
    Brush: Grizzly FireOfUdun
    Pre-shave: PAA The Cube
    Soap: B&M Reserve Classic
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA unscented Star Jelly
    AS: B&M Reserve Classic

    Good morning!

Great shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Extra warmth from the alum along my jawline.

First use of the Hawk V3 OC. Paired with the Super AC made for a lot of blade feel. Shallow angle is where the razor felt best to me. Start dropping the handle and the shave gets harsh and the blade feels like it wants to dig in.

Used the pre-hydrated Reserve Classic. Loaded my brush with enough soap for two shaves. Aged Reserve takes a different technique but still makes a mighty fine lather.

    Have a great day!

This morning I decided to shave with one of the more neglected razors in my rotation, and probably one of the best values in wet shaving today, the Fine Accoutrements “Marvel” DE safety razor. It is aptly named! I bought it for my youngest grandson, this last October, but his father, my oldest son had already gifted him with the OneBlade Core that I had gifted to my son! Go figure! In any case, Ben, my son, had already upgraded to the OneBlade Genesis, so there I was, stuck with what I thought was just another ho hum starter razor.

Since we were headed for Tybee Island, one of my favorite places in the world, I brought the new razor along after mailing myself some DE blades. I had already disposed of the slippery Chrome handle that came with the razor and replaced it with the extra Occam’s SS DE Barber pole handle I had lying around. The combination worked beautifully, and the razor head design delivered a beautiful unexpected BBS. I was sold! I used it daily for the remaining 13 days of that vacation, and put the razor into the regular rotation.

For today’s shave, I loaded the Marvel with a fresh Suneko blade, soaked the tips of my Omega Pro48 Boar brush in warm water, and had my shower. I began the shave with my regular cold water rinse. I then added 3 drops of M-Bomb to my Mentholated Kapo shave cream, and whipped up a glorious cooling lather which was then applied to both face and dome. Two and a half passes (WTG, XTG, ATG) later put the baby to bed, leaving me with a lovely BBS. The Alum revealed some slight heat at the location of yesterday’s weep below my Adam’s Apple, but otherwise, the Marvel left me feeling cool, smooth, clean and refreshed!

RAZOR: Fine Marvel DE Head w/ Classic Shaving’s SS Barber Pole Handle
    BLADE: Suneko
    PREP: Cold water rinse
    BRUSH: Omega Pro48 Boar Brush
CREAM: Kapo Menthol salted w/ 3 drops of M-Bomb
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Thayers Lavender WH and Stirling Iced Pineapple AS Splash. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum

Good morning, Jim! The new razor is beautifully displayed in another arresting razor porn image! The OC compliments the RR Bamboo handle nicely! Since I went for the standard SB plate, I experienced a pleasing amount of blade feel, but not to the extent that it appears you did. My Hawk shaved very similarly to my Vector and General. I expect that the OC accounts for the difference. You’ll get it dialed in shortly, I’m sure. Looks like the razor will work out for you! I enjoyed your report!

    Wonderful shave and report, Jeff!
    Thanks, Jeff! Good morning!

I'll give the Hawk another go with the Super tomorrow then I'll probably swap it with the blade I have in the Vector to try it out with a Pro.

Veddy nice Clint! In one of my Stirling orders, I was given a free sample of the Hipster bar soap and the scent was meh. It's different strokes for different folks.

Just a different technique in loading the brush. When the Reserve was fresh a fifteen second load with a wetter than usual brush on a dry puck was sufficient. Now that the soap has aged it is tougher to get a proper load, hence the pre-hydration and the much longer load time.
