Arko Adjustable April April 26 Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette 195 Fatboy (9) Blade - (2) Soap - Arko Brush - I*V16 Hybrid Badger/Boar Post - Alum Back to beautiful blue skies and lots of sun. One thing about living here - it's never dull. Closed out the day with the same setup from last night. Well except for the brush. Went for the second of my hybrids in the mesquite handle and it's a beauty like its brother. Turns Arko into enough lather to bottle and send some to everyone. With no head shave to worry about tonight there was no worry about blood-letting either as the Fatboy and Rapira did a fantastic job of providing a smooth shave and a BBS finish. I'm ready for a day off tomorrow. Hope your week starts off great too!
well what a day gents.nancy boy, palm lathering, handles that stand by themselves, hair,or lack their of,and guilt relief by donation..oh and flames..burning flames..George Carlin, god rest his soul would have enough here for another new york special....have a good evening everyone..
Thanks Blair. Nothing like your images, for sure, but I got lucky with some afternoon sunlight. Couldn't ask for a better shave, though.
Epic is awesome results Keith! Love the setup! Great report Neal! Another cool brush! No problem Joe. Only conveying my experience and details of purchasing a set of well used barber kamisoris, restoring them to shave ready, and then shaving with them.
Kamis are a different breed. I was looking at J3 Customs kamis and a few others just to browse. They are interesting to look and admire. If I ever decide to get one, then I would go for the traditional grind and use it in the traditional way. I say in for a penny, in for a pound.
Thanks for the comments Charlie, sincerely appreciated! Lots of great images coming across the 30DC all the time now. Some of the posing and precarious balancing....awesome. Learning stuff all the time!
I’ll be the first to admit to yard work procrastination...but most of the time I start enjoying it once I go after it. Likely....cause I put some cordless headphones on, turn on some jams, and just barrel through.
thanks Blair. I do think the Proraso and Arko didn't play well together. It seemed a little off. I should have rinsed off and started over but, hindsight is what hindsight is.
I think that's a rite of passage. I destroyed my first strop and a budget straight. To the few I know getting into straights I recommend getting a cheap first strop. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JV35R3M/?tag=thshde-20 I also like the Gold Dollar for learning to hone. You get lots of practice keeping them sharp.
J3Customs (Derek) is one of the most affordable options in new kamisoris I found. Even the custom one I purchased (big blue) was very reasonable. Some slight inside info, but can be gleaned if paying close attention. He sells online in 2 places, Etsy and eBay. Also has some work on his website for custom questions. eBay is some of his ideas and sometimes the unsold custom work (buyer backed out). Etsy is usually the more intricate or esoteric work he does most often. The 3 barber traditional kamisori set....eBay gamble. $65 for all 3, including shipping from Japan.
