Evan, you've got the 'A' trifecta of awesomeness--Arko, Aqua Velva, and Aluminum handle!

You don't make your own razor to save money... you do it because slicing hair off of your face with steel that you forged, tempered, and sharpened yourself is awesome! I've never done made my own razor, so I can't say this for certain, but I think bragging rights comes with it. ;)

Says the guy who would take a razor to his face in the parking lot on his way to work--still insanely jealous you could do that :D

Thanks, Clint! Cold shaves aren't everybody's cup of tea, but I thoroughly enjoyed it this morning (then again, I also like black licorice--the world is full of weirdos). ;)

    Thanks, Jason!

I took that picture right after the shave when it was still moderately wet. I think Andrew @Linuxguile broke it in for me--lots of wonderful split ends, and so, so soft. Not at all what I was expecting a boar to be like based on things I've heard throughout the years. It's a fantastic brush! :D

Hmmm... good razor? Or is it the touch of the master's hand? ;) :D

Fantastic shave and report, Joe--stay sharp, and stay safe!

The hot days are definitely coming--I just may give that a whirl (although if any of my kids wind up drinking it, there'll be more than just hot days coming ;))

    Arko Adjustable April

    April 29
    Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - I*V10 Hybrid
    Post - Alum

Two shaves left in April and they'll both be with the Toggle, starting with this one. Also Arko, of course and tonight we have the I*V10 Hybrid brush. Couldn't resist letting it at the Arko again. Makes lathering ridiculously easy. The Rapira PL is still as sharp as the first use and as smooth as well. Three great passes to a BBS finish with quiet alum. Yep. I like it.

I'll be handling Post One for May to open up the month but that will be either very very late tonight (or early in the morning) or tomorrow evening. Those of you waiting on the new month to open just be patient. Working on it. I will announce, though, that we are modifying May a bit this year. As most of you know, May usually equals MAYhem - where the stunt shavers and over the top shaving items that were never meant to shave come out to play. We are going to change things around this year due to the current situation out there and do something on a different note. Now is probably not the time for doing things that are risky and potentially dangerous, even if that is entertaining for many. I hope you'll like what we have planned in its place. More on that when I'm done with the intro.

Thanks for continuing to support this thread with over 8000 posts so far!! You guys are the best. And, in a time when there are a million other things to think about, we're still here doing what we do. Makes me proud. Have a great Thursday!!

Hey now...black licorice is good stuff. And jumping off a roof ain’t so bad, as long as you have the right spot to land.

Thanks Tim! I would say that it is my much improved shaving technique over the last 18 months that I seriously got into wet-shaving. The VDH TTO was my introduction to getting back to shaving with a safety razor after many years of using carts. I was still using can goo when I first bought the VDH TTO. So for a couple of years, that was my shaving lineup and obviously, you can't get as good a shave as you would wetshaving. So, my initial experience with the VDH wasn't a good one. In fact, the first razor broke apart and was hesitant to buy this current one. To this day, I don't know what prompted me into wetshaving, except to try something different. Straight/shavette shaving was not even considered an option. Lol! 18 months into wetshaving and I am at a place in this journey that I thought that I would never visit. I would've been happy just using safeties, but I always had a little adventurer side to my personality to try new things, except crayfish, lobster and other exotic unappetizing staples. The amount of shaving education that I have picked up in such a short amount of time via TSD, other forums, the internet, Flea Bay, and heaven's to BEtsy, and finally the shave YouTube celebrities has amazed me. However, I know there is much more to learn and that's what makes this a wonderful avocation.

    Awesome shave and post, Neal!

I'm looking forward to 'MAY-be we'd better think this through first'--please come up with an easier title than that! Whatever you come up with, I'm sure it'll be a-MAY-zing :D
