Awesome photos and report, Jeff! :D

And the craziness grows... Snakebite soap with additional M-bomb? And ice water? Pretty sure I'd tap out after the Snakebite soap. The Spadson sounds positively brutal--I can only think of one place I'd feel safe storing it...

Thank you Patrick :). If the rain stops here, I'll have a nice birthday walk around the complex here. Used to be able to do 3 lengths, now it's down to 1. Old age, I guess lol,

Awesome way to kick off the month, Clint! A menthol-y citrus shave sounds awesome! The Stuga Sandalwood handle really is lovely--your wife chose well :D

Great report and shave, Paul! After some of my shaves this week, any shave with a single weeper would classify as super duper :happy102:

Thank you Tim. She did a good job with the brush. Overall she bats about .500 with her selections which is not too bad. I am very fortunate that she supports my hobby.

    You won't catch me. Lol!

You are only as old as you feel. I will be 65 next month and walk at least 2 miles sometimes 3 most days. Step it up, Paul!

This will be a "non-shave focus" to try to get back to at least 2 lengths around.

    May 1st

    Razor: Valet Autostop C
    Blade: Feather FHS-10 (1)
    Brush: Century #5
    PS: Proraso Red
SS & AS: Stirling Executive Man

The adventure begins. The classic brush struggled to make a good lather. The conditioner I soaked the vintage bristles in seemed to cause issues at first. Eventually I was able to load enough soap and water to get a reasonable lather.

The VAS is a unique shaver. Open comb models are very mild but this solid bar is about perfect for me. I did a 2 pass DFS shave this morning. Yes, I admit I am limiting passes to stretch blade life. Stopping the original Valet blades was supposed to give 30+ shaves, but I am not sure I trust the marketing and this is not a Valet blade.

Certainly hoping I make a usable straight by May 21st. It won't be fancy. The goal for my first blade is sharp and smooth.

Tools start arriving next week. This weekend I will do the CAD work.

In the "mix-up May" survey, I usually don't project a winner in the very first day of the month. I won't here, either, but salad looks pretty good so far, at 70%.
