  19. The Merry Mixed Up Month of May!

    May 1

Please join with me as begin the month by celebrating International Workers Day!!

    Long live the Motherland.

Ok. Enough of that. Now on to the shave.

Razor - El Cheapo DE pain stick
    Blade - derby-shavette.jpg
    Soap - Tabac
    Brush - Semogue 1305
    Post - Alum

Since it's a mixed up month I decided to just go with what I saw in the cabinet to start it off. I had moved the cheapo DE pain stick around the other day and it was up front waiting to be put away. Not so fast! Grabbed a Derby half blade to load it up. I reached for some Stirling but remembered - it's mixed up time - so grabbed the Tabac instead. It's a great soap. One of my top soaps, but I rarely reach for it with a room full of Stirling on my hands. Yep. That'll work. And, how about a boar brush. Got a few, don't give them much love. The Semogue 1305 will do the trick.

My lack of time with a boar caused me to get too much water involved in the loading process. Good thing for me Tabac loves, loves, loves water. Ended up with a super slick lather to run that little shavette on. It handles like any pain stick but the blade isn't as thick or as firm as a Feather Pro or other AC blade. So a different feel but I still got to a very nice DFS with two passes with no blood. I'll take that for a start to the month.

Today's 30DC Memory of the day comes from December 30, 2015 as we were winding up to start the very first month on January 1. The glorious founder, @Bama Samurai added a post explaining some of the terminology we would use for a bit. Yes. We were making up our own specific terms to deal with this new world of learning shaving. It's not particularly funny, unless you put it in context of how bloody serious we were about this! Well, not wanting to be bloody, but you know what I mean. Yeah, we were a studious bunch back then. You can check that post out HERE!

    Have a great weekend!!

  20. There are only two types of Russian steel recognized by the Cartel. Anything made in Moscow at the Mostochlegmash factory. The Rapira family which includes the flagship Voskhod blade. And, the blades made in St. Petersburg in the Gillette factory. If it's from Moscow or St. Pete's - it's genuine Russian steel!
