  1. thank you Jason...
  2. Fantastic shave and report, Charlie! A 2 pass DFS is pretty darned close to a grail shave for me with a shavette. I, too, do pretty well on the cheeks--just need to get the rest of my face and neck to straiten up and fly right! ;)

  8. May 4--In the Mix-it-Up-of-Mystery May
    (Yeah, you read that right!)
    Shavette Shave #58

Another morning shave/afternoon report--one of those days ;)

    Gear

    • Razor: Max Headroom Focus R21 Shavette
    • Blade: Gillette 7 o’clock Super Stainless/green box (1)--the “In-the-Mix” and the “mystery” part of “In-the-Mix-It-Up of Mystery May.” My 1st experience with any of the 7 o’clocks. I found the greens to be sharp, but pretty smooth shavers.
    • Brush: Stirling Finest Badger
    • Soap: Stirling Glastonbury (6 Frost Drops--Menthol Monday :D)
    • Menthol: Stirling Frost Drops
    • AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue & Avon Wild Country--the “Mix-It-Up” today is a blend of AV and Avon. I was not looking forward to this particular perfume permutation, so I figured I’d just get it out of the way early in the month. It was surprisingly decent! Don’t know that I’d buy it, but I’m not averse to repeating either.
    • Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented

    The Shave
First thing I had to do today was figure out which blade to shave with. I don’t know how you ‘million bladers’ do it. Do I start with a blade I’m interested in? Do I get the ones I’m not interested in out of the way? Do I start with the ones I’ve never even heard of before (Vi-John)? Finally the answer came to me…

    20200504_125323-01.jpeg

... I thought this would be a fun way to choose, and was so impressed I made the mistake of showing my wife my great idea. It got the eye-roll, and I deserved it--after 22 years of marriage, I really should have known better. :happy102:

I had a fairly foolish WTG setdown error on my neck, just below the jaw by my left ear. Had I been shaving with the Derby Premiums, I might have got away with it, but the 7 o’clock greens were having none of it. C'est la vie.

Pass 2 (XTG) went better and got me around the CCS level, which is where I like to be if I’m going to go for a 3rd (ATG) pass--which I was.

Pass 3 (ATG) was went very well except for a disappearing weeper on my chin. I gave myself an ice water rinse, Slapped on the AS (AV/WC mix), some Glacial Unscented balm for good measure, then waited for assessment. The results BBS/DFS. Even the chin… barely. No irritation either--winner!

May the Fourth be with you! :D

Great image Gary! Nice red tip!

Proraso SC in a tube is awesome stuff Myles!

Super nice looking Red Ring Jeff! Love the image variety and setup of your shaves.

Very nice 2 passer Charlie! Bike riding is so much fun!

Bromptons are arguably some of the best folding bicycles Charlie. Adding a Brooks leather saddle is only icing to the cake. I think it's more the case where your sit bones mold to (or gets used to) the saddle ;). You'll find an adjustable bolt underside. Be careful though....a little adjustment goes a long way (quarter turns). It's really meant to take up sag of the leather as it ages, but you can very slightly/carefully adjust for comfort. Look into the Brooks Flyer....my wife loves hers on our tandem (Santana road tandem). I have one for the captains position as well. For my other 3 bikes....the same B17 Brooks as you have...2 in black, 1 in blue (matches the road bike livery). Yeah....bicycle problem matches my shaving software problem.

More great progress Tim! Nice report, love the razor choice idea!

AND....if I missed anyone's shave post, my apologies! Skimming and working excuse......
