This morning I was inspired to use one of Fitjar's creams and the choice fell on Fjellheim.

Excellent, as usual, but the fragrance perplexity remains.
Fitjar says it makes feel like as if you rolled in the juniper bushes on your way over the mountain.
    And this sources some considerations.

I've never heard of juniper before I was deported to Sardinia which, for me, despite the mountains, remains a sea place. And I loathe the sea, which has earned me the glances of compassion from thalassophiles who didn't understand how unhappy you could be at Capriccioli in a house 12 meters from the shoreline. Well, not exactly shoreline... Let's say from the pier.

And over there, of the juniper, I only knew the berries, not the plant, and I must say its aroma doesn't tickle me at all.

As a child I was forced to take very long walks in the mountains and I love the mountain, but I consider unseemly walking.
Maybe if I loved walking I wouldn't had a heart attack, but I would have had some other problem: by golly, I'm not immortal!

That explains my complete ignorance of juniper scents.

But even if I loved to walk in juniper-infested mountains, it would never, ever occur to me to roll through the bushes.
    Why?
Well, of course! I wouldn't have known if someone, taken by urgent needs, had used them as a toilet and rolling in them would not have been hygienically advisable.

And the concept of rolling myself would have been unwise anyway: I have a very big nose and rolling would have caused an unadvisable stress to my atlas and epistropheum at every bump

of my nose with the ground and this wouldn’t have been pleasant.

I love pogonotomy: it shows how everything is connected: lathering, botany, orthopedics...

By the way... the shaving was very pleasant (although I didn't understand what the cream smells like)!

I really like the knots Simpson puts into the CH2 synthetics. The density and backbone takes some getting used to though.

  18. SOTD

I love rotating tools in the den, but my own personal challenge is to string together 3 to 5 shaves with zero, or minimal change, in an effort to look closely at the results of the shave and see how my skin looks and feels. Decided to start with my first soap, Stirling Barbershop. Here's my first line-up card:

Pre: Neutrogena Men Face Wash & warm shower (the Neutrogena definitely has a stronger menthol kick than the very similar Nivea tube)
Razor: OneBlade Core (the razor that gets the least use, I'm going to try to make friends with this...or finally decide to PIF/trade it)
    Blade: Feather (proprietary)
    Soap: Stirling Barbershop
    Brush: Omega 636 21mm silvertip
    Bowl: Fine (first time using)
Post: Classic Shaving alum, cold water rinse, Neutrogena Toner
    AS: Nivea sensitive
EdT: Stirling Barbershop (first time using)

Another safe shave with the Core (Gillette Atra used for under my nose), a DFS 2 pass on 2 day growth. Core never really gives me BBS. The alum picked up a bit of irritation on the R side of my neck, perhaps where I applied too much pressure, or caused by the 2 pass where each pass was WTG. No nicks, cuts, or weepers. The Toner & AS balm soothed & hydrated my skin. The spray of EdT on the right side of my neck stung the irritated area, so the alum was definitely telling the truth about the shave.

Stirling's EdT is spot on with the soap scent, so if you enjoy that smell and want it to carry, I recommend. It's light and powdery, a good spring/summer scent. I used a few more spritzes than usual, but I wouldn't go too heavy so that I leave a trail. I was going to pair it with Clubman Pinaud AS, but I think that would overpower it. If I used a scented AS with it, I'd consider something "green" like Afta or Edge sensitive skin gel.

Sorry for the long post :shaver
