  1. I bet it's a little easier to slip the blade in on that razor.
  2. care is always taken with 3 piece razors..:)
  3. Awesome report and gear, Joe--talk about a luxurious shave! After an intense workout, I'd say it's well earned :D

  7. Makes sense. I've tried a few blades recently where I would just bin them rather endure the shave, so at least the Rockwells are usable.

  16. ”May 14--In the Mix-it-Up-of-Mystery May”
    Shavette Shave #67

    Gear
    • Razor: Max Headroom Focus R21 Shavette
    • Blade: Vi-John Super Platinum--my admittedly limited experience with different blades had shown me this: anything that says Platinum in the title will probably shave me well. Would the Vi-Johns continue or break that tradition?
    • Brush: Stirling Finest Badger
    • Soap: Stirling Iced Pineapple/Texas on Fire (chilled and 4 Frost Drops added)
    • Menthol: Stirling Frost Drops
    • AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue (1 Frost Drop)
    • Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented

    The Shave
The plan: 3 pass shave (WTG, XTG, & ATG). The 1st pass went according to plan till I hit the chin (although I had my suspicions even before that). The tugging on the chin was pretty bad. Okay, then, adapt and roll with the punches...

Pass 2 went XTG on the cheeks, but WTG everywhere else. Still pretty rough.

Pass 3 was ATG on the cheeks and neck, and XTG on the chin. The family and I watched Return of the Jedi last night. There’s a scene where the rebels have to break into a bunker, so Han Solo taps a lone Imperial trooper on the shoulder, then runs around a corner. The guard chases Han around the corner only to find himself up against a squad of armed rebels. Lesson: only chase if you hold a significant advantage. The Vi-John held the high ground--there would be no chasing today.

I’m at a DFS on my cheeks, and a CCS just about everywhere else. There wasn’t any blood, but I’m feeling slightly roughed up along my neck and jaw.

Hope you all enjoy your day! :D
