I touched up the terror sticks last night, so this morning’s shave was to see if I could make it through without a scratch, and I did. I just slowed down and took my time and had a very enjoyable shave. I usually mute the toes on my user razors, but these are unmuted heel and toe, and both can scratch you unless you’re careful in your technique. It’s more important to get a good stretch, don’t go too fast, and pay attention. If you do, you will be rewarded with a stellar shave. And these are excellent for trimming and ‘sniping’ individual hairs. Cream was D. R. Harris lathered with the hippie brush, and Myrsol Agua Balsamica finished up.
A bellied hollow is where the grind has a “bulge” or “belly” before the bevel. If you google straight razor grinds you’ll see a lot of charts like this one:
Mighty fine razor, Steve. I’m in awe, and that emoji’s green for a reason!! In general I’m looking forward to your posts/pics. Thanks for brightening my day(s)!
An extra hollow or full hollow can be noisy as well - just another part of the experience. Of course, it doesn’t really help or hurt the shave quality itself
They do look scary. I find my full hollow to louder than my bellied full hollow. The big full hollow can definitely make some noise, I do enjoy the velcro sound they make.

Blade DublDuck Goldedge Brush BSSW Soap/Splash/EDT B&M Le Grand Chypre Balm A&E I’ve owned this razor for several weeks, and finally set my bevel and honed it patiently. Finished on my favorite Nakayama and enjoyed another incredibly enjoyable and relaxing shave. It held a beautiful edge and I’m quite surprised how well this blade performed.
I had a very smooth shave, with a Solingen made razor today. It was a 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Zero issues. These are some of my favorites, as far as makers go. Razor- F.W.Engels "Special". I won this Wosty Pipe in a TSD lottery some years ago. Recently I sent it off to @gssixgun to put on some replacement scales. As a courtesy he did a refresh on the blade. This razor shaves very much like my favored 1941 Russian but when I got it back it wasn’t the shave I expected. I was ready to send it back for a re-do or put it on my Thuri for a touch up. Instead, I decided to give it a second go to be sure. Glad I did. Today’s shave was a great shave. Back in good graces as one of my best razors. I think the difference was the soap. Just goes to show the importance of a good lather.
