”May 16--In the Mix-it-Up-of-Mystery May”
Shavette Shave #69
Gear
- Razor: Max Headroom Focus R21 Shavette
- Blade: Personna Red--not a bad blade, and pretty smooth.
- Brush: Stirling Synthetic (2 band)--just an awesome, no-nonsense brush with a super soft feel. If I were asked to suggest a cheap brush for a non-enthusiast, it’d be one of the Stirling or RR synthetics. Simple and bomb proof.
- Soap: Stirling Pharaoh’s Dreamsicle & Stirling Tea Tree (chilled with ice water, 6 Frost Drops added)
- Menthol: Stirling Frost Drops
- AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue (2 Frost Drops added)
- Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented

The Shave
Because I'm easily influenced and Jim's
@jluc shave looked so wonderful, I raided my sons' shaving drawer and took their Pharoah's Dreamsicle. And because it's Mix-It-Up May, I took my youngest shaver's Tea Tree. And because if I'm in for a Penny, I'm in for a pound, I appropriated his Stirling synthetic brush as well. Hmmm. Looking back now, I probably should have grabbed one of their Q-shaves and just gone all-out.
3 pass shave today: WTG, XTG, and ATG. The Personna Red allowed me to stick to the plan. I found it to be a very smooth shaver, but not quite as sharp as the Astra SP’s. They got the job done, but I had to work a bit harder, and the results were not quite as good. Still, if I were to open the drawer, and the Reds were the only blades left, it definitely would not ruin my day.
If you are considering mixing Tea Tree soap with another because you want to see what the two smell like, you better use very little Tea Tree. It completely drowned out the Pharaoh’s Dreamsicle. I will say this, though: it dies down pretty quickly after the shave, and now I’m catching almost all of the Pharaoh’s Dreamsicle. That’s a good thing, because I like Pharaoh’s Dreamsicle.
No issues, blood, or complications that would set any one pass apart from any of the others. All of them enjoyable. I’d say I’m solidly in the DFS range, and no irritation
Hope your weekend is a relaxing one!
