Inserted a new Feather Professional Super blade into my AC razor and was off.
Right away, I had a sense of a better blade angle. The Feather sheared off all stubble effortlessly.
One stupid set-down on my lower neck was the only mishap of the shave.
Three passes today left me quite smooth.
Post-shave, sadly, is not Kalr Kabinett's forté, but a splash of DRH Pink solved that issue.
In conclusion, I found that there is a reason that DE razors angle the blade.
To facilitate achieving a good slicing angle. The DE-Vette has the blade exposed at a perfect,
parallel to the baseplate and top cap. If, however, the blade was curved, as in a typical DE razor,
I believe that the perfect shaving angle would be a cinch to find.
I still am convinced that a safety bar is completely unnecessary.
That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Amazing report and set up, Joseph. Not usually a fan of rose scents (I've run across too many products that make it come off heavy and synthetic), but your description of KK has me doubting myself

As I've been following the DE-vette chronicles, I've found myself wondering if the torque produced by a curved DE blade might also have the additional benefit of stiffening up the blade somewhat.

Wonderful shave despite the nick on the neck Joseph. Personally, I just shave without delving into any comparisons of a DE razor's geometry. I am just happy to get a good shave.

I'm sure shaving with a hunting knife has been done but call me a sheep or a lamb to the slaughter, but I had to.

I generally sharpen my knives to the point where they will scrape the hair off my arm. That's what I thought razor sharp was a couple years ago. So I started there and did 30 strokes on chromium oxide and 30 strokes on a .5 micron diamond strop. It's sharp for a hunting knife, but not really shave ready. Don't worry, I made up for lack of sharpness with pressure just the way you're suppose to.

I would say 2.5 passed, but some areas could only be shaved safely in one direction, but I did go over them multiple times. I'm calling this CCS with a fare amount of irritation, but no nicks or cuts.

I couldn't rinse in my sink easily, so I wiped the knife on a towel between strokes. The towel is covered in stubble so it was shaving. I also lost my left sideburn during my first XTG pass from ear to nose. I almost posted a picture of that towel, but it seems a little gross like posting a picture of a used tissue.

I hate to admit it, but I shaved with straight razors that were not any sharper than this knife for weeks before I got the proper tools and learned what I was doing. This time last year I would have said this was a good shave.

Great shave report and pic, Maestro! Sorry about the set down error. A safety bar is a must for shaky old me. I’d be a bloody mess every day without it!

Used the wet method to facelather and I have to say it is a quick lather method. I use the brush to wet my face so it replaced the squeeze the brush to remove excess water, however, the brush still has more than enough water to load the soap without it being pasty. The Sandalwood is a real nice, clean mild scent. Although it is a "cold season" soap, I don't get locked into conventional fragrance rules. The Parker SRB is a very easy razor to use compared to the Dovo shavette. I really don't have to concentrate as much with the Parker. On a 40 + hr lawn, two and a half passes and minor touchups gave me a BBS without any blood trails or irritation. I decided to use the WitchHazel because I haven't done so in awhile and it couldn't hurt the shave to do so. Splashed on the matching aftershave that really brings out the Sandalwood scent more than the soap. Finished the shave with the Nivea balm and I am good to go. The skin on my face really looks good. Our very own Jason @jtspartan is the artisan responsible. He has made two brushes for 30DC members. The one I used in that shave was made last year for those who attended the meet up in St. Louis, as well as a few members who were able to pick up the "left-overs" after the meet up. The exact number of each brush he made escapes me (not enough coffee yet) but it was in the 20's both times.

Sunday shave: The last honing touch up session I did included 5 razors, this is the last one to be tested. A huge 9/8 Mike Martinez Karasu, half hollow with a big smile. This razor had a ultra smooth and sharp edge that it held for a long time, so I was worried would my visit to the stones restore it's glorious edge.

The edge was back to it's fantastic state, I could barely feel, but it makes a noise unlike my other razors. My other razors sound like velcro being pulled apart when I shave, the only differences are the pitch and loudness. This razor makes a high pitched pinging noise, very cool.

The shave was most enjoyable, AoS creams always deliver for me and this Kent brush is a perfect match for cream.

Don't know if I could get myself to do that. My biggest problem would be getting the knife passably sharp. I'm absolute crud when it comes to sharpening knives (with the exception of my Mora, which is a Scandi grind--kind of hard to screw up the angle on a Scandi )

Welcome to Single Edge Sunday! I was fortunate to acquire this Eveready Stropping Outfit about 9 months ago. The kit dates to the early 50s. It contains both a leather strop, a stropping tool, and a ‘Jewel’ Streamline razor. The Eveready ‘Jewel’ Razor is in like new condition. It’s not a particularly rare razor, but is an exemplary shaver. The shave is comparable to a Gem ClogPruf. I like the shorter handle on the ‘Jewel’. This is a great head shaver. For today’s shave I selected my MrEE Knurled Aluminum Handled Brush, rapidly becoming one of my favorites, a prodigious lather maker with great backbone. Proraso Green enhanced with 3 drops of M-Bomb lathered up beautifully with it.

I enjoy shaving with Gem blades, but really like the PTFE coated Pella Gem blades. I have more than enough to last until they throw dirt on my coffin. Don of Technichi Shave introduced me to them. They tend to last for 4-6 shaves For me, keeping in mind that I face and head shave daily. Today’s shave went well. I began with an iced water rinse prior to lathering up both mug and noggin. Pass #1(WTG) went well, although not as close as I get with a Feather Super in my AC razors. Whisker reduction continued with pass #2 (XTG), leaving me with only some selective buffing around my usual problem areas for pass #3 (ATG). The Alum check left me with some residual heat around my Adam’s Apple, but otherwise, another delightful BBS. I feel clean, velveteen smooth, cool and refreshed.

RAZOR: Eveready Jewel Streamline
BLADE: Pella PTFE Gem
BRUSH: MrEE Knurled Aluminum Handle w/ Hybrid Knot
PREP: Iced water rinse
CREAM: Proraso Green enhanced w/ 3 drops of M-Bomb
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Thayers Lavender WH and Fine Accoutrements Platinum AS Splash. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

Well, a few cuts/weepers got in the way of another fine shave with Aqua Velva and Acqua Shaving Cream soap(Razorock). These cuts/weepers are forcing me to ask myself if I should grow a mustache/beard in the vulnerable areas, so as to avoid them(the cuts). But then I figure that if I want to lose the facial hair, I'd have to put more force in shaving it off, which might provide for more redness. PUZZLED. I'm clearly not doing well with trying to lose my habit of being rather careless in the cut areas. Otherwise the shave was fine. The Aqua soap is showing some "suds" which is a good sign. 0:25 to load the Maggard Marble Handle, I had nice sweeping motions along the face and neck. Perhaps I should focus on sweeping motions (ATG) in the dangerous areas. Fairly Excellent.
