    Wowzers...long working weekend! 720 posts behind. Not sure I can catch that up...

    Heritage Collections Ever Ready 3 step w/2 band badger
    Henkels Friodur INOX

    Excellent lather from the HC badger and PAA's CK-6 base shave soap. Super thick and yogurty, fun bowl and face smearing goodness. Started working the 'donut of death' on this tub. Easy 3 pass shave today from this rescaled Friodur, just missed the BBS with a slight rough patch on the lower right neck. No crimson alert.

    PAA's Doppelgänger Black Label, easily lasts into late afternoon, wifey super favorite. Scent profile:

    I was balding at 18 and during college I had the skullcap. By 25 to 30 I had the friar look. In my mid 40's I had the horsehoe with some hair in the front to combover. Finally at age 53-54 is when I crossed over to headshaving. I finally realized that I was wasting money going to the barber because he would charge me for full price for doing less cutting. Also, barbers couldn't change my hairstyle so the only choice was to shorten it. I wished that I started headshaving earlier in my life, but I am glad that I am doing it now. The decision to headshave is easier when you are halfway there from the start.

    That's some life history, Joe :). A guy at my gym shaves the top of his head, but leaves the back alone. Looks like someone who leaves his chin/jaw alone but shaves the rest of his face.

    I have seen that look and quite frankly, just do the whole thing because it looks so much better or just buzz cut it. I have seen the reverse when the sides and back are shaved, but with full hair on top and that's fine.

    Southern Midwest, nah.
    I'm from Baltimore, where many locals say something like 'ballamore' or 'baldamore'. My youngest brother moved to Florida where he married into a rich in N. FL - S. GA dialect. I was berated so badly for my pronunciation that I permanently made the change to include the 't'.

    When I traveled, locals from the south considered me a Yank, and locals from the north considered me a Rebel. One thing I came to love about N. Jersey and NY metro area was the straight-forward nature of folks.

    I probably need to do a hands on count but here's what I can remember off the top of my head. The Ideal, Consul (adjustables), "Soyuz 1", Mladast, Twin blade DE thingy, and a straight razor that I obtained on a dare that wouldn't cut through butter if you heated it to red hot.

    So, that would be 6.

    Great MAYhem shave, Crocodile Dundee style.

    Straight razor inclusive bevel angle is usually 15-18 degrees. Hunting knife?, Probably 45+.

    Word has it, that you really didn't need that sideburn anyhow.

    Thayer's Witch Hazel - Aloe Vera

    This shave turned out to be a “wow” type of shave.To start off the Lakewood soap is phenomenal. I should find more opportunities to use this base. It easily whips up into a nice thick lather. The soap is allow based , which offers up a tremendous amount of slickness for during and post shave feel. The scent as describes on the Lakewood Soap Company’s website is as follows: “Fresh, warm notes of tobacco and old leather, herbaceous sage, crisp lemongrass, and darker undertones of patchouli, vetiver and whiskey make this scent unique.’’

    The Everyready 1912 SE delivered a superb shave with my usual three passes. Again, I could have managed with just two, however, I like the”zen” of the three passes.
