I decided to download a picture of a Max Sprecher barber's notch with the Blue Paua (abalone)
straight razor. The razor in the pic is an 8/8. My razor will also be a barber's notch with similar scales. The only difference is that my razor will be a 10/8 straight razor which is 1/4 of an inch wider than the one in the pic. Also, it won't have the fancy tang work. 93154450_1872937672841552_3194588080535240704_o.jpg 93154450_1872937672841552_3194588080535240704_o.jpg

    Brush: Omega 10098
    PS: Proraso Green

Great 2 pass shave to CCS. Lots of lingering irritation from yesterday so I shaved really lightly. Probably go back to the VAS tomorrow to continue testing how long stropping can extend blade life.

Ended up with an emergency at work. Worked until 4 AM. Then resumed at 9AM and just finished... It's nice being important.

I still got my shave in before getting back into work.

Thanks Jim! I am guessing that I won't get it until the fall but I wanted you guys to see a good representation of my razor. I didn't need the artwork on the tang or spine because the blue scales make the razor already decorative.

It still is a good shave Evan! How many guys would even try to make a serviceable razor? So you tread where most of us would not dare to go. Bravo!

The sharp scrap! Can't get enough of that blade, sir. Fantastic line up, Evan--sorry to hear about the fallout from the Crocodile Dundee shave. It hurt my face just looking at it ;)

Thank you Tim! To be honest, I was not planning on buying from this maker, but because another artisan never replied to 2 emails, I went with Max Sprecher. Max Sprecher has 3 levels and the scales at the basic level was pedestrian at best. Also, I wanted at least a 9/8 blade and you don't get it at that level so I had to go to his middle line (premier) to get something decent for me. I was waffling to get those scales because it cost extra just like the 10/8 width of the blade. However, this will be my only custom straight razor so I might as well have it look nice. I could've had tang and spine work as well, but 145 dollars on top of what I paid for the razor was too much and quite frankly not important to me.
