  1. Great shave report, Jim! You never are disappointed with a SS Lupo shave,
  2. I have shaved with my E Type, G Type and L Type with no problems, Jim. This F Type is a different story. The head geometry appears different from the latter three.
  3. Thanks, Joe! :D

Great blades, and I'm glad I tried them. The only thing that would keep me from getting these would be the price and availability factor.

  4. Great shave with superior kit!
  5. Beautiful photo and line up, Jim--I've yet to see a Grizzly Bay brush that was anything less than stunning! :D

  6. Great report, Paul! :D

Aside from the cut, the shave sounds like it actually went pretty well--must have been one heck of a cut.

    Williams~~Mondial~~Gillette/Sharp Star~~Aramis
Seeing it's Wednesday, I decided to get back on the Williams horse and ride this puppy all the way to the finish line.
    How's that for mixing metaphors?
With that goal in mind, be prepared to see my two boar brushes until the puck has disappeared.
    What a lather!
    What density!
    What menthol! (M-Bombed)
    What slickness!
    What-a-burger! :eatdrink020:
Went back to the Sharp Star for my fix of Russian Steel.
I am a real international man, you know. Russian hands and Roman fingers.

Couldn't have asked for a better shave.
The Aramis Tobacco Reserve is still caressing my nostrils as I write.
@wristwatchb have you given yours a go?
  8. Gorgeous...everything, Gary.
  9. Thank you, Jim! :D

  10. Great shave o' the day, Jimbo.
  11. I'll have a go at it, Evan.
10 more shaves @ 60 second load with a boar brush.
15 more shaves @ 75 second load with a badger brush
1 more shave @ 4 minute load with an Omega 10049 after a ten minute bloom.
  12. Lovely. Is a Canadian Rocket the same as an Aristocrat Jr.?
  13. Nice lather, Jeff.
  14. It's like looking at awesome shave gear in a pristine swimming pool! :D

I've been impressed by remarks various folks have made about vintage Williams. Also, as a relative newcomer, I am curious to know what the GD Carrington method is.
  15. Gorgeous photo and gear, Jim--been hearing good things about the Dead Sea scent profile! :D

  16. This model of British Aristocrat Jr was sold in Canada with a distinctive Red and Clear case and labelled a Canadian Rocket. They are the same razors. I call it a Canadian Rocket as I got it here in Canada, and it more than likely is one, but since I don't have the case I can't really say for certain.
While Gillette made virtually all of the 3 piece razors models here in Canada, for whatever reason none of the TTOs were made here. I have a Canadian Old Type, Canadian NEW LC, Canadian New Deluxe, Canadian Pre War Tech and Canadian Post War Tech. I don't have a NEW SC, New Improved or Goodwill from here (mine are all US models), but I have seen pics of all that were made in Canada. Others definitely know more than I do, but I think these 'Canadian Rocket' cases were the only nod that Gillette ever made to having a Canadian specific TTO. The razors themselves are British, though.
  17. Thanks Tim....well, it wasn't a NASTY cut, I hated seeing it, and right away, especially. I'll give it another go tomorrow.
  18. Joseph, the first time I saw an Aramis, it didn't have anything written underneath, like your "Tobacco Reserve".

  19. Thank you, Gentlemen. Fine is a favourite lather of mine, no question. This Platinum is a nice scent as well.
  20. Awesome news about the stropping, Evan! A 2 pass DFS on a shave #15 is an impressive result :D

As for the soap, you could finish by the end of this week--if you're willing to load your brush for 10 or 15 minutes at a time (remember: better to have too much than too little lather ;))
