Thanks Gary...it really was a nice canna cream. I remember trying it when I was much younger-that was the REAL Rise.

    MAYhem

    Razor: Valet Auto Strop
    Blade: Feather FHS (16 & 17)
    Brush: Parket Faux Horn SilverTip
    PS & AS: Proraso Green
    SS: Colonia Di Agrumi

This experiment hardly feels like MAYhem. The blade is performing far too well and the shaves are far too comfortable, DFS in most cases. I continue to do a two pass shave starting WTG and a second hybrid XTG and ATG depending on the sensitivity of the area I am shaving. I do a lot of skin stretching and buffing strokes. The results feel so wonderful I have decided to nickle plate a VAS for more frequent use in my rotation. Not sure I will strop ad often but who knows. Replating a VAS will be a challenge due to current density issues, but I will see what I can make happen.

Regarding my homemade razors, the practice razor works well but I worked 12 to 16 hour days since Saturday. So I haven't had a chance to work on it.

My 12 year old son has been needing some father and son time so I am pausing the razor built to make a knife with him. He's excited and the practice will mean a better razor for me.

Thank you, Jeff! I don't know that I would categorize myself as knowledgeable on just about anything. My descriptions are probably way off. @jluc will give us a test of this description tomorrow, I think.

More mayhem than a Ranger Tech, but not really.

I used to think the smaller blades were easier to wield, but I don't believe that anymore.
Plus, I think the angle is more difficult to maintain.
Keeping a wider blade on your skin is easier.
Lastly, this Portland has a dastardly
sharp point, which will attack---even when unprovoked.
My tub of Williams is headed into the home stretch.

Got a good load on with the Rubberset and chose to face-lather.
Performed a three-pass shave and except for the "un-provoked" jab on my right cheek,
    everything else was
    copasetic.
Alum/Witch Hazel finished the shave and completed the ritual
with some 1988 vintage Christian Dior Fahrenheit.

I learned that lesson already. Maybe I will get some new cutlery for Father's day that I can use for experimental razor purchases.

Hey, when MAYhem goes off without a hitch, that only means the shaver knows his stuff! ;)

Fantastic results with that Auto Strop! 17 shaves and still getting no-issue DFS results--that's boss! Will we get photos of the completed knife? :D
