The Merry Mixed Up Month of May! May 22 Razor - Soviet Mladast Blade - Soap - Oleo Soapworks El Caballero Brush - Semogue 1305 Post - Alum Friday is almost a goner which means the weekend has unofficially arrived! It's a holiday weekend in the U.S. as well, so three days off for some of you. Hopefully you can get some BBQ going in the back yard or maybe even get to take in some fishing or other activities to break of the boredom which is plague living. I kept things the same from last night as far as razor and blade go. Another round with the Mladast and Treet Platinum. Blade is still sharp and smooth and the razor was a bit more under control tonight. Takes me a day to dial them back in after ignoring them awhile. It even looks better in today's picture! Honestly, this razor isn't on the horrible end of things. More like "meh". Nothing exciting and it can be a bit difficult to consistently get great shaves (meaning no irritation either) due to the cheaper materials. But it is solid enough and can do a good enough job I can see where some might choose it as a daily driver. Compared to some out there - this one isn't half bad. I chose the El Caballero along with a boar brush tonight and had a great lather. Three passes and a near-BBS resulted and I'm ready to chill out and get ready for what will probably be a slow weekend. I mean, seriously - if you can cook out for the holiday why order in, right? Make it a great one!!
SATURDAY'S SHAVE Nautica Voyage Perfumed by: Maurice Roucel Razor - Stirling Soap's Slant Blade - *Fresh Blade Shave Brush - Wood Razor's TruStone Turquoise (with 24mm Synthetic Nylon Knot by The Golden Nib) Preshave Soap - PAA Cube with Dock Shave Soap - Nile Naturals "Cucumber Melon" Soap Bowl - Vintage Palissy "Maytime" 1950's sugar bowl Scuttle by Karen's Pottery Post Shave Toner - Humphreys "Cucumber Melon" Witch Hazel Aftershave - Williams Aqua Velva Deodorant - Kiss My Face "Cucumber Green Tea" Fragrance - Nautica Voyage ***EDIT - 1-pass + Extensive clean up pass. BBS. This soap when loaded well along with the PAA preshave soap made the silkiest feeling lather I've ever felt. 10-slickness and 10-glide out of 10. The protect was still very good and I'd rate it a '9' out of 10. One of the very best lather experiences I've had. Only problem is, the lady I got the soap from has a closed Etsy shop. It wasn't even soap advertised for shaving. It was a shea-butter bath soap. I bought it to try it out most because it the scent was listed as Cucumber-Watermelon and I couldn't find that scent in a shave soap. And what made me ultimately want give it a go is because it was listed as having shea-butter, a common main ingredient in shaving soap. Well it worked out. The lather was great on its own. The PAA preshave soap adds that little something extra that in combination makes the lather 'silky' in feel. It's obviously the combination of the two soaps because neither one alone gives that 'silky' feel, but together, BAM. I am concerned as to whether the PAA Cube 2.0 formula will still give this silky feel on this combo. I might just have to buy the Cube 2.0 and try it first, then save the rest of this pre-shave 1.0 soap just for this combo. Great shave today. I smell fantastic for late-Spring, early-Summer.
