May-hem 2020 Williams~~Mondial~~DE-Vette by Tom~~Florida Water In preparation for the pass-a-round, I reached for Tom's DE-Vette. With the new handle and a used Light Brigade, I prepped for the shave. Excellent Williams lather as shown below: I have to say, this razor blade, which under "normal" circumstances, would provide at a minimum 20 shaves, inserted into this razor, reveals all of the blade's shortcomings. Such was the case with this shave. Now, it should be understood that I did not cut myself; no irritation ensued; and ended with a DFS+ shave. BUT...there was some dragging that NEVER occurs so early in a Light Brigade's life-span. Food for thought. My eyes were completely watering for about 30 minutes after applying the super-mentholated Florida Water. Indeed, my fingers were tingling for even longer. Nothing in my shave den comes close to the frigidity of this juice.
Reduction Weekend # 7 Shave # 1 Just One Weekend # 4 Rating: 5 / 5 Razor: C V Heljestrand 14. 7/8” Camel Bone Scales Brush: Silver Blue Lather: Stache Soap Works E Barber Aftershave: WTF Vintage Barbershop Additional Care: Barbero Alum Block Thayer's Witch Hazel - Aloe Vera Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm Late morning shave. I decided to work in the yard, doing my best imitation of Paul Bunyan, before the arrival of some wet weather. Manage to split four wheel barrels of wood in a hour and a half. My reward was a hot shower and an ice water shave. I am working on trying to finish one of my jars of soap. This one, Stache Soapworks E Barber, was one of the first acquired when the rabbit hole captured me three years ago. Prior to the capture, I would have one soap until it was finished. Ian making a slow effort to try to reduce the den. I think I will be in for a long haul. Just a lot of soaps. As for the shave, I used the first boar brush I have ever owned. The brush whipped up a nice leather but not as thick as usual. Perhaps I added a little bit too much water. Regardless of the thinner lather, the soap provided a wonderfully slick surface on each of the three passes for the blade to do its job. The WTF Vintage Barbershop after shave is truly real good stuff. It has a wonderful old school scent with a nice menthol finishing touch. Enjoy the holiday weekend gentlemen.
