Ok, I decided to dull the edge on my Dovo Special in preparation to reset the bevel and bring back the edge later this week. I used one of the Stirling aftershave bottles to do so. I should be getting my lower grit lapping films in a few days.

I have Stirling Sheep, but I have not used it, I am saving it for July. I did some test lathers and I seem very promising. And yes, it kinda stinks....like, wet gravel with a hint of old dog? Not sure. I guess I will be ordering some more Stirling in near future.

I don´t know what the heck I was doing today, but my sensitive neck area is a lot more red then usually. It is my trouble spot, but today I mess it more then usual. Looking back, I did not stretch my skin at all, which was the mistake - I don´t know what I was thinking.

    Razor: Carbon Shaving Cx-316L ++
    Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (3)
    Brush: Simpson Petrol Head synthetic
    Pre-shave: PAA The Cube
    Soap: B&M Terror
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA unscented Star Jelly
    AS: B&M Terror

    Good morning!

Excellent shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Nearly silent alum.

Technically speaking, not a Menthol Monday shave but the synthetic cooling agent sure gives a nice long lasting face freeze.

    Have a great day!

Another nice shave job this morning. I had the Stoylin Blood on Steel set(SS&AS). A little too much blooming set the stage for another one of those "Yer gonna need that second pass" shaves. I put in the extra few drops of water after the 0:30 load onto the Maggard "Marble Handle", but I used the sink tap, not droplets from the brush. Things settled down for the 2nd pass. Y formation on the neck was well done. This action always leaves extra soap at the bottom of the neck which comes in handy for touch-ups. How about two Top Of The World Excellent's in row, huh? :)

    Razor: Rod George Catacomb 2
    Blade: Super Max Platinum
    Brush: Skully
    Lather: Long Rifle Hawkeye
    Aftershave: Pinuad Citrus Musk
    Additional Care:
    Barbero Alum Block
Thayer's Witch Hazel - Aloe Vera
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Happy Memorial Day Gentlemen. A very nice three pass shave with the custom Rod George razor. I felt like a citrusy type shave this morning and Longrifle Hawkeye has been calling to me over the last several days.
    It did not disappoint.

The Pinaud Citrus Musk seems to pair very nicely with the scent of the soap. Again, finished of with the Stirling Unscented Glacial balm for a nice chilled and supple feeling to my face and neck.

Head trim with the shears at the lowest setting for a nice fuzzy feel.

I've been interested in the LongRifle group for a while now. I'll have to look at it again. And now I did-some new names around, but it's a nice lineup overall.

Another great report, Bill, and thank you for throwing yourself upon the altar of shave science. You know you've arrived in edge forward shaving when you find yourself saying, "Man, this razor isn't up to snuff; better pull out the shavette for a bit of clean-up!" ;)

That, sir, is a hilarious way to phrase it :happy102:

I know exactly what you mean, though. The good news is that it'll become old hat soon enough :D

Awesome report, Myles. Always good to have a few different techniques in your quiver, and face lathering can be extremely useful (especially when traveling). I used to primarily be a face latherer, but found that spending so much touch-time one my face was starting to irritate it even before the razor came into play. I can get away with just about anything on the rest of me, but my face is a real diva sometimes :happy102:

Awesome! Got my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed--just because it's fun to do, not because you need it. Looking forward to the report :D

I've used the Scots Pine Sheep and Glastonbury soaps, which also have the mutton tallow formula. Amazing what adding a bit of fragrance does for the sheep smell :D

Sorry to hear about the neck. I'm the same way; I'll scrape away at trouble areas that are prone to irritation (corners of the mouth and outer edges of the upper lip for me) without realizing I'm doing it.
