Quick morning shave before my 1st day back to work after a 60+ day furlough. The edge wasn’t quite right so I went back to it today after some adjustments last night.

Edge was improved via full Mikawa Nagura progression on my favorite Nakayama. I was able to nudge it squarely into the “sweet spot,” and ended with a great shave. Exactly what I expected from a razor with this grind/weight.

What do you think of the Highlands Springs soap? It happens to be made in my town but so far I only have the Kootenay Blue. I see they are making hand-rendered tallow soaps now as well.

Razor: Gem Micromatic flying wing, MMBT, Guiding eye.....-MFG 1947-50
Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE (9) - Great blade characteristics all the way around, sharpness, longevity & smoothness after a couple of shaves.
Soap: Colonel Conk bayrum- I enjoy using this soap.
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow with brown whiskers(Mew) 26 mm- very packed whiskers with soft tips & back bone, excellent Brush IMO.
Pre-shave: Brush wash my whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 3 + pick ups.
Post shave: Pinaud Clubman with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea Balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = Great shave with my Gem MMBT.

very cool..

I am a huge fan of this soap in particular. It’s the only one I’ve tried so far. Here’s what I like about it:
1) scent- this is easily a top 3 to my palate
2) performance- lathers easily and provides luxurious protection. Not too finicky with water qty. To boot: IIRC this is a vegan base and yet still performs on par with a Stirling or a B&M (IMO/E of course)
3) size- I think 3oz soap portions make sense. It’s not so huge a quantity as to have a puck kicking around in my den for months, even years in my den. I enjoy selecting from an array of options based on my mood so I tend to stock a wide selection.
4) splash- treats my skin great when the business is complete.

I’m intrigued knowing now they’re offering tallow base. Thanks for the tip! I’m sure to support this outfit based on my current satisfaction.
