I might do a week of shaves using Col. Conk

I’m thinking of doing a week of shaves using Colonel Conk products. I just got their Bay Rum soap as well as Lime shave soap and aftershave. I’m currently waiting on their Bay Rum aftershave, 2 different safety razors of theirs, Amber shave soap & aftershave and 25mm synthetic shave brush they call the Battleship. I used to use Conk’s soaps 3 years ago and remembered that they were pretty good performers at their price range. Recently I talked to the company’s Facebook page and learned that their soaps have a new formulation called “super fatted glycerin” they say it’s like a glycerin shave soap on steroids. I will report my findings on their products; on the 7th shave I’ll post a video shave review.

 

Col Conk Bay Rum soap was the first shave soap I bought when I switched to traditional wet shaving. I used it exclusively for over a year. Good stuff.

I like the scent of lime, so the lime soap and lime cologne could be something I would go for.

I’ve heard many good things about their bay rum.

 

Their lime soap and aftershave is very sweet and the Bay Rum is not too overbearing.

The razor has a lot of audio feedback as you shave; which is very helpful for me. It's fairly aggressive and was able to give me a BBS shave in 3 passes. The scent on the soap and aftershave is a light, sweet lime fragrance. The soap was very easy to lather and produced a very slick lather.

The bottle is glass.

 

Sounds like great stuff ..... unfortunately it contains EDTA, so won't be using it.

 

i did a lime /amber mix in a bowl.interesting scent,works well..

 

Sounds interesting. This morning I built my lather directly from the plastic container.

 

Some more Col Ichabod Conk products; some I bought and some given to me to tryout. I bought the Amber soap & AS as well as their 25mm synthetic brush called the Battleship. They gave me to try out Unscented & High Desert Breeze aftershave balms along with 2 oz of Rio Grande Lavender shave cream; all from their Natural line of products.

The brush is fantastic at building lather. It's soft to the touch yet has just enough backbone to generate lather from a shave soap. The Bay Rum soap and aftershave is very pleasant; not at all overbearing as some Bay Rum scents can be. I found this razor a little milder than their Chunky razor but it still delivered a BBS shave with no cuts.

 

I bought some Colonel Conk bay rum soap a few years back and I still enjoy using it. One best keep kept secrets for a shave soap in my opinion for protection and like you mentioned a nice light Bayrum scent in the soap. It is reasonably priced glycerin based soap which it makes it even better for budget minded folks.

Soap and aftershave: Col. Conk Lime

The soap seems to be a top contender for my list of best budget shave soaps; it creates slick and dense lather with ease. The aftershave is nice though it may not last long it's good if you don't want your aftershave to be too potent. The Chunky razor is easy to maneuver, but if you're not careful it can bite. I had 3 tiny nicks in today's shave. I definitely recommend Col. Conk's products as they're reasonably priced and more than just get the job done; they're enjoyable to use.
