Really good shave with the Janus Toggle with the razor set at #2. Good smooth feeling with blade feel that is close to a Timeless .95 but, just a hair under. An uneventful 2 passes and a chin buff. Good as gold. The razor is coming around, I hope. Great evening and shaves to all....

  8. Thank you but not an inspiration. I'm just trying to deal with it and not completely fall apart over this.

  9. Thank you. With all of the hell going on in my life shaving is the only peace and joy I get. It's one reason I keep trying to get new items when I can afford them. I love trying new items. Now I need to start working on soaps and aftershaves.
  10. Thank you all for your kind words. It is greatly appreciated.
  11. Just the Basics June!

    June 4

    Razor - Magic Shavette
    Blade - [IMG]
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
    Post - Alum

While a couple of people remembered "It was a dark and stormy night" being the starting line of a novel that Snoopy was writing in "Peanuts", I have no quote to give you tonight to describe the day. Just a decent day that is now wrapping up and all's well that ends well. That goes for the shave too.

I decided to go basic shavette for June. Nothing more basic than the Magic. Plastic handle, fairly cheap design but this little razor delivers. I paired it with the Derby half blade for shavettes. As with any shavette, blade selection isn't critical. Just use one that works. I like using the Derby's here for that reason. Stayed basic with Arko and went to the big Omega Pro 48. My first "real" brush. I always forget how ungainly this brush can be. It's huge! Makes a bucketful of lather and will scatter it all over if you don't watch it. Three passes and I contained it pretty well and had fantastic lather for all three. Could have done many more and not run out. The finish was a nice DFS which, for a shavette shave, is good for me. A little warm in places on my neck with the alum but not horrible. I'll get it smoothed out over the next couple of days. Have a Freaking Fun Friday!!

After a rainy night, today is a sunny but cool day and Beau Brummel seemed to me a suitable soap.
    A close and pleasant shave.
I still have some doubt about the blade.

The Proraso Sandalwood Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #340 Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the AutoStrop VB1 with a GEM Blue Star SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Cella ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
